Huh.  Facing disciplinary action for defending a teammate?  That sounds… odd.  Also, what a terrible reason for suicide (a quasi-judicial administrative proceeding).

You have to feel for the parents here. I get the impression that the causes of her suicidal spiral were actually rather slight. A word from the parent to whom she was closer might have changed everything.

This is one of those situations where privilege gets in the way.

I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.
