I realize that statement can cover a broad range of topics, and a broad range of countries. I think my favorite is China’s insistence that America is undermining nuclear disarmament and that we should reflect on our behavior regarding nonproliferation. Russia has unilaterally withdrawn from nuclear arms limitation treaties to which it is a signatory and regularly employs rhetoric that it will use so-called battlefield nukes.

Russia’s Senator from St. Petersburg and chairwoman of their Federation Counsil since 2011, Valentina Matviyenko has stated that Moscow will use its “entire arsenal” of nuclear weapons if provoked. Not attacked…provoked.
China also bald-faced claims that the US clings to a “first-use” nuclear policy, which hasn’t been the case since 1945.
Both Russia and China have refused to engage in arms control discussions initiated by NATO and the U.S.
The United States observes the negotiated limit of 1,550 deployed strategic nuclear warheads set out in the 2010 START treaty…from which Moscow has suspended its participation.
But according to China…the United States is the one holding back non-proliferation.
Oh.
