Why didn’t I think of this brilliant strategy?

FWIW, 90% plus of all masks we see people wearing in every environment these days from the ubiquitous blue paper ones, to the decorative and stylish cloth ones and others are totally useless when the virus is in aerosol form.  You do not need to be a Stanford grad, a retired dentist or a PHD in Virology to understand that the pores in all the above masks are like freeway openings compared to the virus particle size.  Only triple filtered masks of which I have seen possibly 10% during the past 6 months are effective against spreading the Covid 19 virus.  It does not matter in the least if you are in a room with 100 people in close quarters wearing a mask or not wearing one, you are only protected against droplet transmission at close range unless it is a triple filter mask.  All one is doing wearing a useless mask is submitting to social pressure and expectation, progressive demands and political leverage.

One does not need to be a scientist of 40 years experience to realize wearing a mask 50% of the time while eating vs. 0% while eating is not going to make much of a difference in stopping the spread of any virus, whether Covid 19, another SARS type virus or any common cold viruses.

Actually, masks and filters do help with filtering out small particles, even those smaller than the mask is rated to capture. Brownian motion and diffusion, baby. . . .

Sorry to tell you CardCrimson, but unless I’m an outlier, you’ve lost your audience with this simple explanation!

That’s why I provided the links.

Diffusion is simple enough as it is the mixing of two or more gases or particles but it will not enhance or reduce any of the entities ability to penetrate any type of barrier.  Brownian motion is a bit more complex but it involves a molecule or particle`s natural atomic vibrations so to speak and the movement by implication is claimed by CC to be a factor which decreases the likelihood of penetration.  I have no way of knowing if this is true or untrue.  It appears analagous to a cockroach being able to alter its shape to squeeze under a door when its body is wider or taller than the opening which is opposite the argument.  Dunno but intuitively it seems that it would support my claim more than the contradiction. I guess CC is saying the zigging and zagging are such that the particle inevitably bump into part of the filter and are caught unless they somehow follow by chance a 90 degree angle to the opening.  Well, I agree a 3 filter mask would catch nearly all particles given this behavior but I was referencing the ubiquitous masks that 90% of the population use and I claim are next to useless.

Useless, I don’t think so. Helpful for droplets, less helpful for aerosols for sure. But what percent effectiveness? Contamination requires both viral load and duration, so even 50% effectiveness on aerosols doubles the amount of time required to inhale enough virus to get sick. And one needs a lot more aerosols than droplets. . . .

My favorite analogy is that masks are like using chain link fences to keep mosquitoes out…

      Could be worse.

Ted Wheeler is trailing in the mayoral race to this woman, who not only wore a skirt with communist leaders on it, but basically said antifa isn’t bad, so she’s going to crack down on the police if there are riots.

Yes indeed; that’s the best standard to use to measure whether you’ve achieved a pluralistic society.
