I assume this was written before the actual event, huh?

I guess Lorraine didn’t like it.

I almost spit out my coffee reading this-
“Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who are facing criminal charges for pointing guns at unarmed, peaceful protesters outside their home earlier this year, represented one of the few interviews piped in from beyond the podium.”

She must be getting her news from CNN.

Searching with Duckduckgo yields very different results.

BD, Variety has found a different way to spin it…not mentioning CSPAN. Nielsen will be out this afternoon.

Andrew Pollack was compelling to the say the least.  Not a word from MSM.  Google Andrew Pollack and you have to wade through 2/3 of page of 2018 headlines before getting to his RNC speech.

The LA Times Staff is spending a tremendous amount of time trying to generate revenue.  You have to keep the shareholders happy, especially owner and transplant specialist Patrick soon-Shiong.   And things are not going well.

Television critic Lorraine Ali’s hit piece is her job.  She used to be the music editor and music critic so she knows her beat.

Hahaha.  Is Lorraine Ali comparing a virtual convention with pre-taped speeches to… say scripted television or heavily edited reality shows?  And she’s a “television critic?”

This is why I’m so down on so-called journalists and media people.  They try to tell people what to think (as our moral and intellectual superiors), but they’re essentially just putting their biases on display (and likely so out of touch with reality that their biases are based on lazy tropes).  Other than linking to her criticism of the DNC (comparing it to a telethon), there’s no analysis.  No discussion of real people’s reactions (the actual audience, not the media or the twittersphere).  It’s easy to snipe at a bunch of political speeches, delivered to an empty room in a vacuum, but her main critique (“branding disaster”) doesn’t even make sense.  We’ll see on an objective level what the effects of these conventions are, but I wouldn’t give this “critic’s” opinion any thought, other than to diminish my opinion of her and her writing.

Her article captures alternate realities.  Don’t take her personally.  She’s told what to write and there’s an editor upstream who may have juiced her words.  There’s a reason the LA Times is losing money.

Yes, they have a specific theme they need to convey, and I’d say Ms. Ali captured her master’s words better than most. Her alternate universe is of her own making and doesn’t reflect reality.

Candidly, I thought Trump would get whupped in November. Based upon independent observations, I still think he’ll get beat…but it’s a lot closer than I’d expect:
