Turned on the news this am, and the talking heads were mesmerized by this “historic day” where you should gather your kids to watch, as RBG lies in State at the Capitol. Wall to wall coverage. I don’t get it. Wasn’t she the second woman on the Court? Why no love for Sandra Day O’Connor?

One of the talking heads did mention that RBG was a ground breaking advocate for gender equality, though. Funny, I thought the Supremes (and justices in general) were suppose to be advocates for the Constitution and laws, not advocating for what those laws should be. . . .

Huh?  In her career before she became a judge, she litigated and argued some of the ground-breaking cases for gender-equality, including the case that was the basis for “On the Basis of Sex,” involving a tax deduction that was exclusively for widows, but not widowers.  Before that, there was a case involving military benefits.  Once she established equal protection for gender as a legal principle, she used it to get laws to be gender neutral.

Not sure why I got a chuckle from this headline from CNN:

Live Updates: Ruth Bader Ginsberg in state at Capitol
