cardcrimsonParticipantSan Francisco is requiring a vaccine card and an ID to enter most indoor venues within the city. Two questions.
If requiring an ID to vote is racist, isn’t this mandate therefore racist as well?
Will polling places require an ID to get in, but not to vote?
Racism is apparently alive and well in Breed’s San Francisco, too.

Genuine RealistParticipantSorry, but I don’t see immunization passports as any more offensive than requiring vaccination proof before enrolling a child in public school. What IS annoying is mask mandates in lieu of passports, which is what the health fascists in Santa Clara County and Oregon have done.
Covid issues have been politicized to a ridiculous degree. Trump is the major culprit, but God knows his mindless opposition have played their part.
I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.

LegendKeymasterRight GR, blame Trump. That will move us forward.
I would have expected a more cogent analysis of the disproportionate impact theory with respect to this policy. Whether you like it or not, is it likely to have a disproportionate impact on disadvantaged minorities?

ParticipantWell, it appears vaccine passports are systemically racist.
I think people are confusing the media narrative (GOP = anti-vaccination) with reality. Trump obviously is very pro-vaccine, because he wants credit for it. Ron Desantis is also very pro-vaccine, because he not only vaccinated more of his citizens than the average state, but he has some of the highest senior vaccination rates in the country. Journo / Twitter world view demonizing aside, it’s pretty clear at this point that the real barriers are income, race, and education (both ends of the spectrum, apparently). But because we’ve raised a generation of journalists without the credentials to be pundits, who also want to be political operatives, instead of addressing the real issues, we get the blame game.

So what are we left with? COVID-19 is going to become the fifth endemic coronavirus. We’ll all get a variant at some point in our lives. We can continue to vaccinate to try to reduce the fatality rate / severity of infection, but it’s pretty much inevitable. Zero infections are not a realistic possibility, as demonstrated everywhere. Given this reality, what freedoms are you willing to sacrifice, perhaps permanently?

cardcrimsonParticipantGR, My point was not about Covid. It was simply about the hypocrisy of the same requirement called racist in one instance, yet perfectly acceptable in another.
Can you help with that one?

ParticipantNot sure of the details underlying this chart, Rogpodge, but it reinforces one of your points.

cardcrimsonParticipantCF, that’s a really interesting, and surprising, chart. Thanks for sharing.
