ParticipantOur up side down politics now have the Republicans as being anti-business and Democrats becoming laissez-faire capitalists pontificating on low taxes?
Is DeSantis the real deal or did he just poll it?
My cynical side says that Disney Corporate in CA called the Disney shots and DeSantis is the controlled opposition. But thank God Gillum didn’t get in there.
Any thoughts on this?

Are you sure? Regulatory initiatives from the administration are profoundly impacting business opportunities and economics.
This link might be of interest to you. The Brookings folks summarize the scope and reach. They are profound.

MickParticipantDisney is Florida’s largest private employer. So liberals are saying “move away from Florida.” The place where Disney had heretofore enjoyed status that no other corporations involved. So it’s interesting that liberals apparently now think that Disney should just move from Florida. Smart business move, there, liberals.
That’s buffoon Keith Olbermann’s take. He tweeted “A simple solution to the [Gov. Ron DeSantis’] attack on business, specifically [Disney]. The company should close the current [Walt Disney World] in Florida, tear it down, and build a new and better facility in a nearby state NOT run by religious zealot buffoons,”
One wonders what nearby states Olbermann is referring to. Presumably not the Carolinas, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, et al
One also wonders if Olbermann thinks that red state folk might boycott Disney, when in fact their customers tend towards Republicanism.
And finally, I wouldn’t say that DeSantis started this retaliation. That honor belongs to Disney, about 15 months ago:
By the way, this isn’t new. Disney’s been in the bag for Democrats for more than three decades. In our biennial national elections, Disney has never — not once — donated more to Republicans than Democrats. During that time Disney donated over $24 mms. to Dems and less than $8 mms. to Republicans, worse than 3:1.
Of course they haven’t. Both Disney and Democrats operate on “make believe” as their guiding principle.

rjnwmillParticipant“(The law prohibits all such classroom instruction in kindergarten through third grade.)

The legislation shows a politician ready to parlay anti-gay bias into votes by marginalizing youth and reinforcing what up until a few years ago felt like grossly outdated cultural mores. In the wake of this effort, we’ve seen an uptick in divisive, homophobic rhetoric accusing LGBT-inclusive teachers and parents of “grooming” children, or even of pedophilia.”

It’s going to be some election cycle as tonight Trump did his best Werner Wolfe with a call to, “Go to the video tape”. He’s referring to Dinesh D’Souza’s scheduled early May release of his election fraud documentary, 2000 Mules.here is a link to the trailer Trump used at the rally:
https://www.truethevote.org/sneak-peek-new-2000-mules-footage-released/
The themes for the competing narratives are coming into view. It will be interesting to see if D’Souza’s documentary stands up to scrutiny when released. (D’Souza himself pled guilty to violating election laws). Clearly the left has some holes in their basic argument. See the quoted passage above from rogpodge’s link above. The suggestion that specifically targeted curriculum limitations, grade K through 3, are submitted as a root cause of widespread prejudice?
Let the games begin.

ParticipantThe left’s ideology is not popular among the broader community (it is popular among the coastal elites and the media). Once people heard what was actually in the bill, it was overwhelmingly popular. I’m less sure about the move to strip Disney of its tax breaks, because I’m not sure how the law of unintended consequences plays out here.
Of course, this leads us to the unmasking of the LibsofTikTok account, a previously anonymous account that reposted TikToks by (mostly) teachers where they admit attempting to politicize students / teach gender ideology and sexuality to children. Taylor Lorenz, a “journalist” who two weeks ago went on MSNBC about “online bullying” and broke down in tears. She then threw MSNBC under the bus when people made fun of her crocodile tears, saying that the MSNBC clip being released resulted in her being cyberbullied. I use crocodile tears because of how she can dish it out, but can’t take ANY criticism (and she’s constantly been wrong). Anyhow, Taylor Lorenz outed an anonymous account, including knocking on the doors of relatives, and then the Washington Post lied about exposing personal information. Brian Stelter, professional narrative launderer, then interviewed her so she could get out her justifications.
NEW: Taylor Lorenz says it's "patently false" that her Libs of TikTok story linked to any personal info despite the WaPo admitting it had removed a link (the paper said it was just "professional" info).
More from her interview w/ Brian Stelter. (Thread)https://t.co/OuJX4dRAeq

How thin-skinned is she? She doesn’t allow the Internet Archive Wayback Machine to archive her tweets. Probably because then there’s no record of her being wrong.
Taylor Lorenz's Twitter feed has been "excluded" from the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

As for DeSouza, he was convicted of illegal bundling / campaign contributions. Look closely at how the Democrats / elites protect their own when they finance their campaigns. Whether “2000 Mules” holds up, we’ll see. As far as I know, there haven’t been any prosecutions based on the evidence.

ParticipantLooks like the 2000 Mules thing is just more BS peddled by the right.
Of course he’s innocent until proven guilt, but: Former FBI informant charged with lying about the Bidens’ role in Ukraine business, undercutting GOP impeachment inquiry
He figured prominently in the impeachment and the film. In any case, the film has been debunked. Not that anyone should be surprised.

ParticipantTook you two years to reply to this post but whatever.
As to Biden, FBI agents, informers, and debunkers I’d like to see their SAT scores before I comment.
As to 2000 mules I didn’t see the movie but I kind of get the gist of it. I’ll leave you with a quote by an old Boston politician named Dapper O’Neill about elections in Boston. “They won’t count my votes on election night, they’ll weigh’m.” Great line but everyone knew it to be true. Massachusetts is a one party state and that’s how it works. You don’t have to worry about accountability.
So I lean to the 200o mules side because I’ve known it all my life.

ParticipantLooks like I was right. 2000 Mules publisher pulled the film from all platforms.
Add it to the list of all the other bullshit conspiracies peddled by the right, as well as the election audits that found nothing meaningful, and the recounts that confirmed Biden’s victory.
The damage has been done, though. So the retraction and apology will have about as much impact as a fart in the wind.

And your source was NPR? Didn’t Democracy Now! have anything nasty enough? You have a pretty narrow filter on your info there, BT!
