Then CNN / the State Department decide to try to take credit for the extraction, when all they did was get them tourist visas AFTER they were extracted.

Admittedly, you have to consider the sources, and a statement from the mother might be the only way to get primary evidence of what happened, but Cory Mills (who did the rescuing) is pretty adamant that the Biden administration is trying to take credit for something they had little to do with. Something to pay attention to as this story fades from public memory.
