ParticipantI know, consider the source, but this does present an accurate summary of the latest issue with the Washington Post and journalistic malpractice by Taylor Lorenz.
https://www.foxnews.com/media/washington-post-silent-taylor-lorenz-blames-editor-miscommunication
For those who refuse to click on a Fox news link, Ms. Lorenz wrote a poorly sourced article noting that internet influencers we’re making money off the Amber Heard / Johnny Depp trial. The heavy implication was that the influencers were hurting women by presenting slanted coverage. One of the YouTubers is a lawyer (a fact Ms. Lorenz failed to mention) and was described as “pivoting” to trial coverage despite having covered the case for months prior to the start of the trial. (Full disclosure, I watched some of her appearances with other LawTubers during the Rittenhouse trial). Of note, the author claimed to have reached out to the two influencers before publication, and both Tweeted evidence that the claimed request for comment was false, and further when Ms. Lorenz reached out after publication (with time stamps), they tweeted that evidence as well.
Why does this matter? The Post editorial board posted a demonstrably false correction and hasn’t updated in five days.

Meanwhile, Dave Weigel retweeted an off-color joke, his colleague, Felicia Sonmez called him out publicly, and she has now gone scorched earth on her colleagues, including one who condemned the retweet, but told her to stop to publicly airing dirty laundry on Twitter. Here’s a summary.

Other craziness. Dave Weigel supported Sonmez when she got suspended for a Kobe Bryant tweet. Ms. Sonmez is still looking for targets, five days on.

What’s really going on? Sonmez is appealing the dismissal of her hostile work environment lawsuit against the Washington Post.

rjnwmillParticipantAhhh yes…Section 230 envy. Why should the Post or the Times spend all that money on editors and staff to assure consumers of the accuracy and completeness of their content? Reduce the overhead! Particularly as the competition can control political perspective with algorithms and generate “content” for free…if you don’t give a shit about the integrity of that content.
Let the “freelancers” go. After all accuracy doesn’t get considered now-a-days in the awarding of Pulitzers. The business of “journalism” in the 21st century.
Here's a toast with one last pour, may it last forever and a minute more;

Also, CNN’s attempt to create doubt about the nature of the threat is incredible.

Seems like kind of a big deal to be burying.
Meanwhile, the drama at the Washington Post is still going. The racism accusation coming after she explicitly went after a Hispanic colleague (who just won an award yesterday). The complete lack of self-awareness from the media shows why public trust in them is deteriorating so rapidly.

Genuine RealistParticipantFWIW, with little fuss or fanfare, the Post fired Sonmez today.
I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.
