MickParticipantTrump popularity gap is now down to a flat 12.0%. What makes that interesting is that it comes after the Democratic Convention, theme of which was “Orange Man Bad.”

Genuine RealistParticipantIt’s going to continue to narrow, because it always does. We’ll see.
The Democratic PArty is doing s superb j0b of re-electing Trump. In the same way as it goe him elected in 2016.
What the people likely want is a continuation of most of the policies of the last four years, which an emphasis on increased police accountability and the problems of the endangered middle class addressed – without the incredibly obnoxious Trump blathering about his enemies. The historical Joe Biden might have been able to provide that. Query about the 2020 version.
I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.

ParticipantRight. Because George W. Bush did SO well staying above the fray and not responding to the baseless, random, sordid prattle of the most extreme elements of the left.
I get it. It is unbelievable that the President of the US is weighing in on Goodyear’s internal training materials. I would think he could get in a couple more rounds of golf every month if he did not bother with such trivial crap. But he gets more stuff done, and some way more important stuff, than Joe can even dream about.

Participant*during* the Democratic National Convention. We’ll see if there’s any convention bump this year. I have not watched any of it so far, but I can’t imagine that the Republicans will do a worse job than the Democrats. If there’s one thing Trump knows, it’s entertainment.
Running on an actual record is a powerful thing. (A glaring example was trotting out John Kerry to say Trump’s foreign policy is a mess after the UAE-Israel normalization of relations agreement). You want to run on COVID (zero deaths)? Only the most partisan believe that some alternative reality president would have achieved zero cases and zero deaths, and trotting out Andrew Cuomo to tell us shoving COVID cases into nursing homes was a good idea won’t play outside of New England.
The media can scoff all it wants, but the game is up, and nobody should care what the media thinks anymore. Also, Twitter is not real life. Stirring up postal conspiracies in the media among celebrities and the already susceptible / weak-minded / low information / willing to hang onto any thread Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferers isn’t going to move the needle.
