Briefly watched the KTVU morning news this am, and was struck by two stories.
First, was that California students (perhaps it was Bay Area students) have fallen behind by almost a year to where they should be, in both math and reading. Oakland students even more so. Conveniently, they blamed the pandemic. They should have blamed the government and teacher unions’ reaction to it.
The other story was a about a girl who escaped Afghanistan right after the fall. She lamented all the lost opportunities for Afghan girls still there, and the rights that they have lost.
Neither is a surprise. Also not surprising was the lack of culpability in either story.
