We have four and yes, it’s very expensive to have children and support them in a modern, upper middle class expectation set.

And, yes, that’s eugenics by just another name.  See the film Gattaca for a dramatization of scientific embryo selection.

This got way less play than it should. The whistleblower was in the meeting with him. Ouch.

It’s crazy that Trump has to deliver real change while all Biden had to do was snooze for the same approval rate.

Trump won’t accomplish everything, and any particular failure is used as evidence of general failure.

Social security isn’t about you. It’s about all the other people around you.

It’s not a savings account you are “paying into.”  That’s the most ridiculous tropes in politics.  It’s a transfer payment scheme and it’s near insolvent.  So to “pull your money out” is basically to say you want all the grandmas eating government cheese to regurgitate the cheese they have eaten during your career.  There is no “money out”. It’s spent.

All this time you’ve been “paying into” you should have been thinking of it as “paying for” and that would be more accurate.  You have been paying for your grandma, and your elderly neighbor.

your only hope is for the next generation to pay for you, but people aren’t having kids and we are stopping illegals from using borrowed ssn’s,  so good luck with that.

Uh, they adjusted the “Biden” numbers down right between Biden dropping out and Kamala ramping up.  It was a data dump.

the labor market is weak. I for one think Trump made a tactical mistake in his hissy fit about BLS. He should have used it as further evidence to jawbone the fed, instead he put focus on the data being bad.

and, yeah, I don’t find the jobs numbers trustworthy. Such massive adjustments just kill credibility.

    That man can do anything!

We go skiing every year. The prices for skiing are outrageous.  It’s almost all driven by foreign tourism.  The top ski resorts are populated by non Americans and their Nannies.  I won’t mind if that goes away a bit.

I attended a very international conference a few weeks ago.  The non U.S. travelers were talking about how “scared” they were to come to the U.S. because of higher traveler scrutiny.  One said his daughter had to have extra screening because her passport picture was old.

sounds to me like the U.S. is closer to what other countries do.  Didn’t bother me in the least.  If people are “scared” then they are just listening to the wrong folks.

“we’ve been able to just walk into the country for years, now we have to actually be vetted” isn’t the complaint you think it is.

We are in the age of leaderless revolutions.  To name a leader is to name a target.

Who needs a leader when you have half the voters fully duped?

Trump built a base on conspiracy and vengeance.  When he doesn’t pursue those things; his base gets testy.

The other thing to keep in mind with polls like this is that Trump can be unfavorable for doing too much OR too little.  I do NOT think Trump has well unified opposition from that perspective.

I’m all for treatment of borrowing against asset appreciation as income and taxing it.  It’s one of the more egregious gaps in the U.S. taxation scheme.

And, as is always the case when talking about Billionaires, the juice isn’t really worth the squeeze.  $80 billion is a drop in the bucket.   We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem.

I’m also a fan of crediting some proportion of tax base back to billionaire founders and growers.  So if Bezos founds a company that employs hundreds of thousands of people and still holds those shares, IMHO he should get partial credit for the income, SS, and Medicare tax base from those jobs.   I’d count that only for founders or people who bought very small companies and grew them.

By that measure, the Walton heirs don’t get credit, but Bezos probably gets a tax refund!

We should tax things we don’t really want more of.  If we don’t want more billionaire founders, then by all means, tax them.  I think GR and I would be on the same page to say we shouldn’t want a bunch of idle billionaire heirs and heiresses.  Founders?  We want them. Lots of them.

I luckily run a business that’s small enough that I can tel whomever whatever.

I had an analyst who was an attractive tall slender blond Russian gal. She went to a client site with a black bra under a sheer white top. I wasn’t comfortable with the conversation but basically told her to cover up. Probably a lawsuit in a bigger company.

Awful. But, like the Trump phenomenon, which was a logical and extreme response to republicans peddling a “fight” narrative in 2015, this is a logical response to Democrats peddling helplessness and fear.

he still has to win in the general election, and all the candidates are flawed. God help NYC.
