Rocky, this comes down to a peculiar source of power that liberals have employed… it goes like this:
Which would you rather be:
Correct factually, ethically, and morally, but labeled a racist in a very public way thereby threatening your career and well being…
or,
Wrong, and supportive of wrong assumptions, ethics, and moras, but not labeled a racist.
I know a lot of people who would go with “wrong” every day of the week, especially if it means they only have to keep their opinions to themselves and/or let their boss or the majority (in this case) make the bad decisions.
You may have the wealth, experience, and dontgiveashittedness to stick to your guns, many people do not.

Well, perhaps we’ll get a chance to see if the founders were really all that smart? Nine wise souls with lifetime appointments may have a chance and choose to take the politics out of the process and then to consider the reversal of the decisions of the local hacks?
We’ll see if they are afraid of being branded as a “racist”. We know for a fact two were tarred as sexual predators during confirmation yet pressed ahead. ACB seemed resolute in her commitment to the rule of law. Alito has engaged.
I’m okay with them taking on these decisions. The local stiffs have no place in matters of this import.
