Alberta is the wealthiest of the Canadian provinces at a GDP of C$107,000 per capita. Right now, there is a wealth transfer from young, cool, rich Alberta to the rest of funky, old, decrepit Canada and its creaky socialistic health system.

So, Alberta has a chance to vote with its feet. I don’t think it would be very smart to leave Canada, it’s landlocked, and if they left, they’d be at Canada’s mercy more than they are now. The other choice is to join the United States.

This plebiscite is legal in Canada…Canada’s Supreme Court held years ago that provinces could legally leave the union. Couldn’t happen here, we fought a little war over it. But it might happen in the Great White North, eh?
