AOC issues thinly veiled threat to Kamala Harris as Democrats gear up for White House fight
I doubt it. She seems to realize that if she swings and misses now, at age 36, she is unlikely to run again. A September BGSU/YouGov poll put AOC tied with Newsom at 14% support for a presidential run, but behind Harris and Pete Buttigieg.
However, an earlier AtlasIntel survey in May — the most accurate in the last two Presidential elections — had Buttigieg in front for much of 2025, but then Newsom in front through early 2026…and the last 2026 AtlasIntel poll for the 2028 Democrat Presidential poll had AOC with a +4 point lead.
The most recent poll had Harris at +27, Newsom at +16, Buttigieg at +10, AOC at +10, Ossoff, Kellyi, Shapiro, Beshear, Pritzker and Whitmer between +3 and +6

Today, Pelosi adores AOC. Supposedly, she is the odds-on favorite to win the Dem nomination over Kamala, Newsom, and Buttigieg. That Ossoff and Shapiro (winners in swing states) aren’t even mentioned says something.
This article, incidentally, is not complimentary of NEwsom (“smooth operator” “easy liar” “the only thing authentic about him is his ambition” “multiple personality disorder.”) Also mentions his odd pride over his “dreadful performance at the helm of the Golden State.”
Buttigieg basically has no chance. A June Emerson poll registered his base of support with black voters at zero percent, a non-starter for a Dem.
The stars may be aligned for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2028
