Mick1ParticipantPeter Thiel says that California isn’t going anywhere, despite political mismanagement. The economy is ridiculously strong; e.g., 5th largest economy in the world for the 7th consecutive year, $3.9 trillion, 6.1% growth. It’s the same size as Germany, India and Japan, with 1/2 the population of Germany and 1/3rd the population of Japan and 1/35th the population of India.
And yet…third highest unemployment rate, high cost of living, high housing costs. Thiel says, basically, that California is like Saudi Arabia. Completely bloated, inefficient government sector.
Along those lines, did you catch Newsom’s little bitter act of defiance? His acknowledgement that Harris is fundamentally substance-free? Apparently, he was “told” to call the lack-of-primary “open and inclusive.” Little bit of bitterness for our least-favorite woke white man, who probably felt that he was at least deserving of a shot at the brass ring given his support for Biden and performance on the national stage.
Critics of the Democratic Party have suggested Harris got the nomination without the true will of the voters, but Newsom appeared to find the process humorous.
“We went through a very open process, a very inclusive process. It was bottom-up, I don’t know if you know that. That’s what I’ve been told to say,” Newsom said as he laughed during a talk with “Pod Save America”It’s at the 32 minute mark. He just slips for a few seconds…
