MickParticipantMaybe…ex-Brit / SV entrepreneur Steve Hilton and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco are primed to do well. Bianco is polling at 14.7% and Hilton at 14.1%, leading the pack. Hilton has recently published a book, “Califailure: Reversing the Ruin of America’s Worst-Run State, featuring his take on skyrocketing housing prices, lowering taxes, homelessness and reducing government waste.
Further back in the polls are Democrat contenders include billionaire-spending-$66 million Tom Steyer (6.2%), former spy-liaison Eric Swalwell (13%), former LA Mayor/Assembly Speaker Antonio Villaraigosa, former CA Controller and responsible for $6 billion COVID unemployment fraud Betty Yee, along with former Rep and on-camera scold and personality Hahvahd/Yale-educated Katie Porter (12.9%), and Xavier Becerra (5.9%). Way, WAY out in front is “undecided” at 33%.
Recently in the race is Matt Mahan, SV entrepreneur and San Jose Mayor, a DINO (Democrat in Name Only) according to some. Politically moderate, he is against the billionaire wealth tax, pro-business, criticized Newsom for trolling Trump (arguing that it is ineffective), and cracked down on homeless encampments.
Incidentally, if a Republican gets elected, the recall process will likely start the day after the RGov takes office. Any registered voter can initiate a recall for any reason or no reason. They need to gather signatures equaling 12% of the votes cast.
Republicans have a rare shot at winning the California governorship

Mick1ParticipantKatie Porter, endorsed by Elizabeth Warren, offended by softball questions. Your next governor of California. This Yale undergrad/Harvard law school graduate likes to present herself as a champion of the middle class.
Can Katie Porter still become California’s first female governor?

ParticipantUnclear to me on if this truly represents a potentially resurgent interest in a Republican governor, or if it is just that there are so many Democrats that they are dividing the poll response?

Mick1ParticipantI suspect it’s 20% the former, 80% the latter. CA is still 20% Progressive, 19% Liberal, so of course, the Democrats get 95%+ of the representatives in Congress.
