MickParticipantNever mind that “Democratic” and “Socialists” are antonyms — or should be. Some people think they’re synonyms. But the fun part is what’s in the DSA’s political platform, including:
- All permanent residents, citizen or not, get to vote
- All criminals get to vote
- Abolishing the U.S. Senate. Democratic Socialists of America co-chair Megan Romer told FOX News that the Senate is an “anachronistic institution. It comes from the British House of Lords,” and was created to “protect power” and ensure “the people didn’t have too much of a say.
- Expanding the House of Representatives to an unspecified number
- Replacing the two-party system with a “multi-party democracy”
- Abolishing the Electoral College and having Congress elect the president and Supreme Court
- Implementing ranked-choice voting in all elections
- Ridding the system of lobbyists and “dark money” – or funding from election Super PACs who do not need to disclose donors
- Aggressive wealth taxes
- Greater power to unionize
- Finish Reconstruction; e.g., permanent DEI giveaways.

ParticipantIt is entertaining and at the same time frightening how little DSA leaders understand about the founding of USA. Moderate dems have every right to be frightened. DSA will fragment the Democratic in a way they might recover from. Similar to what Perot did to the Republican party in 1992.
DSA claims 87% of its funding comes from members. Hard to see how that model holds up in national elections.

ParticipantI will definitely agree that “democratic” and “socialist” are and should be antonyms! That said, I have to admit that there is one thing in that list that has merit, 8 things that I strongly oppose, and 2 things that are so stupid that I wonder if this is from an 4th grade student congress election.

We may have a DSA mayor of NYC, a DSA senator (MI), and a DSA governor (WI), along with a significant number of DSA congressmen and congresswomen in November.
Because the majorities are likely to be thin, the DSA can demand concessions from the Democrats, pushing policies further left.

Stanford Professor Andy Hall notes that robust paywalls mean that LLMs recommend the Japanese Communist Party because their content is free and accessible.
