So it seems Trump is about to escalate significantly. I find this to be insanely dangerous and idiotic. The Iranians haven’t directly retaliated in the USA or attacked our assets around the globe, despite the fact that we killed their religious leader and about a third of their high level government officials. They have suggested the will go “apocalyptic” if Trump goes further and does the type of shit that is rumored.
Play dangerous games; win stupid prizes… or whatever the saying is. And by that, I mean I am quite concerned about the USA and our assets around the globe.
For decades the Pentagon and everyone with half a brain war-gamed wars with Iran. They all knew it was extremely dangerous. If we were going to go to war against a country like Iran, we would need a big coalition and a strategy. But Trump spent a couple years alienating our allies and partners and then half-assed his way into this war. And now, instead of dialing it back, he’s doubling down.
I think this is moronic of epic proportions and I’m actually worried about our country. Call me paranoid. That’s fine. I hope I’m wrong. We may win some battles, but I don’t expect we’ll win the war in the long wrong (though I hope we do). And I think it will bite us and Israel in the ass, to say the least. I suspect we will feel it at home, unfortunately.
When you understand "the deep state" simply refers to the rule of law, it makes much more sense.

I don’t know enough of the backstory. I’m glad that someone is punishing a country that took our citizens hostage, calls us the Great Satan and threatens to destroy us regularly.
At the same time, I hate war, it’s long-term bad for the economy, and I feel like our support for Israel has motivated this morass. I can’t believe we couldn’t get to a middle ground.

It also looks like Trump is doing a speed run to fuck over the Middle East. It’s insane. He’s destabilized the region and abandoning the Arabs at the same time. Iran could well take over Kuwait and their oil and they’re fucking over Saudi Arabia while Trump tells the Saudis they’re on their own. I guess Witkoff and Kushner got a better deal with Putin, so who needs the Saudis anymore. I seriously hope I’m wrong. But if you listen to Trump “we have Venezuela and Greenland”, so it’s all cool. JFC.

How are they going to do that? Iraq is between Iran and Kuwait, as is the Persian Gulf. American has eight military bases in Kuwaid, one in the UAE, two in Saudi Arabia with more than 25,000 personnel, to say nothing of the more than 20 U. S. Navy war ships in the middle east, including two carrier strike groups, multiple destroyers, a cruiser, a littoral combat ship and an expeditionary sea base.
