Apparently, the IRS is ceasing their practice of unannounced visits in order to recover assets owed to them. Seems their agents “didn’t feel safe.”

Perhaps not all that surprising. There’s a few other overhauls planned; e.g., they’re hiring 5,000 phone assistants. In 2023, the IRS answered 80% to 90% of their incoming calls, in 2022 it was just 17%.
