Kamala being nudged aside

Interesting article. I saw the interview with John Morgan, the billionaire who runs Morgan & Morgan, a plaintiff’s personal injury law firm. He was borderline furious with Kamala Harris for running such a crappy campaign, and said no one would ever support her financially again.

Reid Hoffman of Netflix said the same thing.

And Kamala’s longtime competitor, Gavin Newsom, is urging her to make a decision early. The “will-she-or-won’t-she” waffling benefits Kamala, because people are less likely to look at her critically. Interestingly, Newsom told Jake Tapper in an interview recorded a month ago that if Kamala Harris decided to run, Newsom wouldn’t run. I wonder if he’s seeking a graceful out?

I suspect that Harris will argue to donors that (a) she came closer than people think, and (b) once she has a full campaign to run she’ll be more impressive and (c) she’ll correct the mistakes from the last go-round.

To summarize, I think if she had done any four of these seven things, she would be President today, including:

1. Distanced herself from Biden and admitted that there were failures on their collective watch and have a plan prepared to address the multiple failures.
2. Took Shapiro instead of Walz as her VP. Walz was a flat-out disaster, the most mock-able national politician since Dukakis. She’d have to answer early who she would take on as VP.
3. Gone on Joe Rogan. Hate to tell her and everyone else this, but Rogan would have softballed his way through the interview. She would really have benefited from this.
4. More to the point, she should have gone to an event and had multiple beers with masculine men and proclaimed the election “the Year of the Manly Man” and said there as no such thing as toxic masculinity. If she had 5% more of the masculine male vote and 2% of their significant others, she’d be President.
5. Stuck to the “raise taxes on the rich” pledge, IMHO Trump’s most glaring vulnerability. “why elect an NYC billionaire?” she never really asked the question. She brought it up, and two days later she dropped it.
6. Been genuine and authentic.
7. Articulated really, really good reasons for her 14 separated policy reversals. One, we can understand, anyone can learn. Two–yeah, okay. But watch it. Three? You should just join the other party. But 14???!?!?!
