Three students at Newcastle University; Lily Allan, Amara Relf and Holly Thompson have gathered 100,000 signatures to demand that misogyny be declared a hate crime in England. It is going to be debated in Parliament.

In 1982, I took “Women in U. S. History.” Three men in the class, 43 women. With the permission of the instructor, I wrote “misandry” on the board, and asked for a show of hands if you knew what the term meant. Four or five hands went up. I wrote “misogyny” on the board and about 2/3rds of the hands went up.
Be interesting to see whether misogyny becomes a hate crime in the UK. It’ll be more interesting to see whether misandry becomes a hate crime there as well.
