Newsom’s new podcast

Gavin Newsom has launched another podcast (no one ever listened to the first one). He thinks he is the next Joe Rogan. He certainly wants to be the next Joe Rogan, and the next President.

I think he sees this as a kill-five-birds-with-one-stone move:

1. Positions him in the national presidential debate as someone who listens to the other side.
2. He’ll have a ton of time on his hands…he’s out of the Governor’s role in less than two years. So at worst, he can power up a national platform.
3. He’s inviting MAGA people…according to him, mostly MAGA people. He wants sparks and fireworks. And he wants Democrats to come back, specifically to come back to him.
4. He wants to rehabilitate his admittedly poor image. The fires and all his other failures make him look bad. He needs to turn it around.
5. Newsom wants to rehabilitate the Democrats’ overall image, which is in a shambles. I think he thinks he can force the party back to the center by underlining opinions from other people.
