Peggy Noonan has always decried President Trump, sometimes at length. In this article, she lambastes Trump’s comment:

Her riposte is:
No, the Continental Congress came first, authorizing the creation of the Continental Army on June 14, 1775.
Uh…yeah. I’m not a history major, but I believe our country was founded on July 4, 1776…so more than a year after we funded the Continental Army.

She also doesn’t like his military parade. “We don’t do that,” she says snootily and condescendingly, like a tart, gerontocratic aunt. Which she is, come to think of it.
