ParticipantHow soon before Trump has Newsom arrested on some Trumped up federal charges? I give it about 12 months. It’s always projection with Trump, so my money is on corruption.
It’s probably a long shot, but as Newsom emerges as a thorn in Trump’s authoritarian dream, I’d say the odds go up.

LegendKeymasterI just hope you are being ironic, because the mention of projection and the outline of the exact lawfare scenario Trump faced, including mugshot and trumped up charges…is deeply ironic.
why would Trump do that when he knows it strengthened his own candidacy?

ParticipantAs I said, probably a long shot. But I’d guess the odds of a Congressional “investigation” are reasonably high. Now that Hunter Biden’s laptop is irrelevant, some other bullshit will no doubt require a year or two of Congressional hearings.

ParticipantTrump is not going to investigate Newsome. No reason to investigate the guy. He is the guy most Republicans would like to see run. His last video claiming ICE will show up at polling places to keep illegals from casting a vote is priceless.

MickParticipantHow soon before Trump has Newsom arrested on some Trumped up federal charges? I give it about 12 months. It’s always projection with Trump, so my money is on corruption. It’s probably a long shot, but as Newsom emerges as a thorn in Trump’s authoritarian dream, I’d say the odds go up.
The answer is never. Never, for two reasons: (1) first and foremost, Trump does not arrest or jail his political enemies, despite the fact that his political enemies have done everything they possibly can to stick him with imaginary charges. Apart from Mueller finding nothing amiss with Russia (duh), you had prosecutors literally begging not to be sanctioned over bringing their imaginary charges against Trump. Authorities literally had to tell other NY developers that they were only after Trump because (shocker) when a lending authority asks you to come up with a valuation of your property, you give them the highest realistic estimate. Trump did it, other developers did it, all developers do it. If every developer was charged with that “crime” (which, by the way, the lender said Trump did nothing wrong and the loans were paid off as agreed), then it would have a chilling effect on commerce in general and real estate development in particular.
The Left did precisely what BYT is projecting — they weaponized the court system against Trump. And they’re getting caught all over the place.
The second reason is that Newsom is a profoundly bad politician. He has base cunning (his two best friends in high school were the offspring of the Gettys and Dianne Feinstein/Richard Blum) and he knows how to raise funds and turn a phrase. He pretended that being pro-gay marriage in San Francisco was a brave position. Uh, no. It would have been brave to be anti-gay marriage in SF.
All his policies fail. Taxes have skyrocketed and major cities burned to the ground. Despite (or because of) his idiotic policies, homelessness, drug deaths and crime are persistent problems, 90% of Union Square businesses have gone out of business, large businesses are fleeing California, no one can buy a house, half of California is poorer than Mississippi, and our $98 billion surplus turned into a $73 billion deficit in two years. California politics is dirty, out of touch, inbred, opaque and CA has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. You still can’t drive down Highway One. And don’t even get me started with the COVID debacle in this state. I didn’t eat at the French Laundry did you BYT? Any of you? Nope, just Gavin. AYFKM?
Gavin overstated (lied) by 690% the fire breaks he claims that CA Dept Forestry implemented. And Nesom is responsible for the biggest single financial debacle in American history, the Bullet Train to Nowhere. And this guy should be President? AYFKM?
Gas prices are stratospheric. California is thoroughly unprepared for drought, had a dry reservoir in pacific palisades when it burned to the ground. We haven’t replenished groundwater in two wet years. Thousands of felons are being let out of prison early. 2/3rds of California students don’t meet math standards, half don’t meet basic English standareds. Not only did the EDD shut down, they sent out as much as $33 billion in fraudulent claims and the person who ran it at the time wants to be the CA State Controller. AYFKM?
That doesn’t even take into account the fact that he banged his campaign manager’s wife and dated a 19 year old when he was 41, and was married to a prominent Republican.
AYFKM? Trump doesn’t want Newsom in jail, he wants him leading the 2028 ticket…Newsom as the Democratic Presidential candidate would virtually guarantee either Vance or Rubio a 2028 victory. He is literally the worst candidate the Democrats have to offer.
Arrest Trump? Don’t waste my time. Don’t gaslight me with “Trump-will-arrest-Newsom.” Trump wants to prop up Newsom.

MickParticipantTrump is now second place just behind Kamala Harris in the 2028 Presidential poll.
Gavin Newsom surges in 2028 presidential primary poll
Four months ago, he was at 4%, now he’s at 13% (Kamala is at 26%).

Mick1ParticipantAnd Newsom is responsible for the biggest single financial debacle in American history, the Bullet Train to Nowhere.
Newsom’s original proposed budget for California’s Bullet Train to Nowhere was $33 billion when proposed in 2008. It is now $126 billion.
By way of comparison, Amtrak’s total Federal budget investment (not including loans) between its founding in 1971 through today has been a little over $73 billion.

ParticipantIt’s uncanny how accurate my prediction was. I gave it 12 months. Here we are 10 months later and Newsom is of course being investigated by the DOJ. So fucking predictable.

ParticipantHonestly Mick, it’s amazing how naive your comments were (“Trump does not arrest or jail his political enemies”). Trump literally posted a message on Truth Social addressed to “Pam” (Attorney General Pam Bondi) and wrote “We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility” and then went on to talk about several people who needed to be dealt with by the DOJ.
So far others include:
- Former FBI Director James Comey — dismissed in late 2025 because of how absurd it was — and then re-indicted in April over a social media post that was equally absurd (idiotic, really).
- Sen. Adam Schiff (“insurance and mortgage fraud”)
- Former CIA Director John Brennan
- Former Fed Chair Jerome Powell (probe dropped)
- Fed Governor Lisa Cook (criminal referral, not indicted, with Trump attempting to fire her—now before the Supreme Court)
- And let’s not forget New York AG Letitia James (“mortgage fraud”)
Trump was asked about these and promised there would be others. But of course Trump doesn’t do such things.
What amazes me isn’t the fact that he’s done this; it’s that you guys somehow don’t understand how corrupt he is. I’m sure you must be shocked, SHOCKED that he is even tainted with the hint of corruption. No, it’s not Trump. Surely it must be that all these people are guilty.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the message I referenced earlier was actually meant to be sent privately to Bondi. Trump believed he had sent it directly and was surprised to learn it was public. So we can add incompetent to corrupt.

MickParticipantIn January 2025, the FireAid Benefit concert raised $100 million. Not one dime went to people who lost their houses in the fires. It all went to left-leaning non-profits, including (originally) a non-profit run by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. When this travesty was publicized, Siebel-Newsom’s nonprofit returned the funds. To date, no homeowner benefited from the $100 million raised.
Recently, Gavin Newsom’s chief of staff, Dana Williamson, 53, pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud, subscribing to a false tax return, and making false statements to a federal agent.
California’s fraud has outdistanced Minnesota’s by a considerable amount. And that doesn’t include the lengthy list of Newsom’s failures in this state.
And you dutifully reported a 100% pro-Newsom opinion. Makes sense.
