      Quaker Oats pulls the name and the image of a black woman from it’s packaging. Are Uncle Ben and  Mrs. Butterworth next?

      Long time coming. The older ads with their stereotypes should have been hard to survive 40 years ago.  Still, a lot of brand value just got jettisoned.  Got to hand it to Quaker for making the move.

      The real question is whether ANY black character of any kind is actually acceptable in advertising any more, or does it represent a minefield?

      How long until we have cries about the exclusion of positive AA representations in branding?

      by the way, the onion literally ran this on Friday.

      Doc no question they will come for the lawyers before they come for the retired dentists.  I understand that part.  The good news is that I am much quicker than most lawyers.
