Russians want both Alaska and California “back”

Russian nut jobs for years have demanded Alaska “back” from the United States. Here’s a Russian TV commentator who wants California back because…you know…there were 100 Russians (at most) living in Fort Ross in 1812, all of whom departed by 1841.

Russia bought Fort Ross (got its name from a phonetic abbreviation for Russia) from the native Americans for three blankets, three pairs of breeches, two axes, three hoes and some beads. In 1841, the Russians sold it to John Sutter for $30,000 (and he never actually paid for it). The Spanish created San Francisco, in part, to discourage Russians from further exploration in California.

There are 1.1 million Californians who speak Russian on some level. Rather doubt they’d want to return to murderous Putin…even the 40% of Tomales residents who claim Russian heritage.
