Participantdid he suddenly change his mind and realize that DACA is fair and just, if imperfect, avenue toward citizenship for some or is he just waking up and smelling the electoral coffee. Either way, doesn’t matter to the DACA kids. What is next, he’s gonna put on a face mask and strut on over to Walter Reed and grandstand that he’s now Mr. Public Safety?

Genuine RealistParticipantMight have done this in 2017 and taken the knees out of his opposition. Too little, too late now . . .
I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.

cardcrimsonParticipantIt’s not over until Joe Biden speaks. In public. My guess is that he won’t, not until January 20th, when he resigns and gives Kamala keys to the oval office.

LegendKeymasterJoe Biden has the easiest track to presidential election since Washington.
Trump tried to have it both ways on DACA and sorely misplayed it.

rjnwmillParticipantMemory may be failing, but didn’t the Orange One try to do an immigration deal to benefit DACA kids; over a million? He wanted to force a broader deal that would included an end to chain migration among other things. The political opposition turned him down for the wrong reasons. Trump then tried to close down the DACA program for leverage to make a deal. He lost in court.
I don’t see this as any change at all. The program is still dead because a political deal isn’t to be made between now and November. Republicans think they can carry the day with bs about an executive order. Democrats think they will carry the day through continuing inaction. DACA recipients remain hosed in the roll of political football.
Once again a wonderful outcome is achieved by the folks who are self enriching in DC.

FratBoySpikeParticipantAnyone up for a MAGA facemask? Trump should wear one with the presidential seal…

ParticipantI Try not to criticize when a politician does the right thing,.. he also wore a mask this week end. Let’s give him shit about that.
When a child makes pee pee in the toilet for the first time everyone cheers. So yeah, I guess better late than never. But it would have been nice if he had done it before 135,000 Americans died.
And I’d bet money he will soon revert to his usual behavior. I suspect someone just finally told him he couldn’t come in without a mask. I guess we’ll find out at his next super-spreader event (rally).

Your post drifted a bit, but it begs the question: Do you really believe that Trump is somehow “responsible” for 135,000 people dying? Put in other words, do you believe that Trump has enabled the deaths of 135,000 people? Your post implies it, and you aren’t alone.
Trump is the flea on the elephant, just like Fauci and pretty much any expert. The only thing Trump has to deal with is the burden of leadership, which doesn’t seem to apply to his Democrat brethren at the state level, even when far, far more egregious POLICY decisions have directly resulted in deaths.
Instead, Trump isn’t “saying” the right things. What else is new?

johnnyo53ParticipantIT’S EASIER TO REMEMBER THAT FOR ROSCOE AND OTHER ASSORTED DUMBAZZES, THAT EVERYTHING IS TRUMP’S FAULT. FROM THAT BASELINE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DEALING WITH. RJNWMILL LAID DOWN THE CORRECT INFO, BUT I DON’T EXPECT PEABRAIN LIBTARDS TO HAVE THAT KIND OF MEMORY. A F ALL THINGS SAN FRANCISCAN EXCEPT NORTH BEACH.
“I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I

ParticipantIf That Man(Sorry Sir Winston) could have saved only one life by wearing a mask early it would have been worth it. Perhaps that life was the one of my SI classmate who passed away last week.
How tough is it to wear a mask?

The old “if it saves one life” trope. Careful with where that logic leads. It can get really nasty really quick.
If it saves one life to Terry stop every car in Oakland once a month, would it be worth it?
Imagine how many lives trump has saved by tamping down illegal border crossings. Those coyotes just leave their dead behind, don’t they???
Oh; you are saying that trump only needs to take a token action to save lives with his mask? Ok then. Obama was (is?) a smoker. How many people did he kill?
