The Left Pole – Joke

• On Bari Weiss’ Free Press site, there’s an interesting interview with Steven Pinker, the Harvard polymath and ‘data driven’ optimist. During the interview, he describes the American academic environment is located at what he calls the Left Pole.

The Left Pole is Left in the same way the North Pole is North. Every direction leads South, In the same way, every direction from the the Left Pole is Right, usually a right wing conspiracy.

Substack, the platform on which the Free Press can be found, is a real force, hosting Bari Weiss, Andrew Sullivan, and any number of free thinkers who can no longer tolerate (or be tolerated by) the regular media. (I conduct my own blog there.
