MickParticipantYou’re going to get fired anyway for something you did or said that no one would notice 10 years ago. So…why abase yourself?

ParticipantYes, why abase yourself. What happens with the Donald McNeils of the world is that they hear the apology whisperer in their mind and lose their nerve. A lot of guys buckle under a little pressure today. Especially with women.
Sometimes I look back and figure I should have made an apology for this or that. Then I think about it for about 5 seconds and think “nah”. No guilt at all. The trick is to absolve yourself in woke world.

LegendKeymasterI gotta tell you, I almost missed this link, and the article is pretty doggone brilliant.
The reality of the current political climate is that saying the wrong thing, even years ago, can endanger not only your reputation, but also your career and any future prospects. THAT’S the reason for the “deeply sorry” kinds of apologies. You might “never work in this town again” when it comes to some industries.
And that’s the reason they ring so hollow.
The formula laid out in this article is probably the exact formula put together by some crisis communications consultant 10 years ago in response to the first major offenses in the current cancel culture.
The funny thing about the people extracting these apologies is that they always focus on the lack of empathy of the “privileged” offending party. In destroying livelihoods and careers they betray the ultimate lack of empathy.

MickParticipant“Political correctness is America’s newest form of intolerance. It presents itself as fairness but has strict codes and rigid rules. Political Correctness is Fascism masquerading as manners.”
