The American Constitution provides for a Constitutional convention to rewrite the American constitution if 2/3rds of state legislatures demand one (34 states). Not much of a worry because 3/4ths of the states (38 states) would have to ratify the new Constitution.
Still, interesting to consider. Right now, 28 legislatures are controlled by Republicans, 18 by Democrats, the rest are split.
Right now, more than 34 states have standing requests to change the constitution and many of those are still active. Since 2016, nine Democratic-controlled legislatures have rescinded their decades-old requests for constitutional amendments, fearing a Republican-led Congress.
