Trump wants to sell citizenship (more or less) for $5 million to foreigners.
Not only would it generate cash for the Fed govt., but presumably the foreigners would apply the rest of their wealth to the American economy.
Haven’t read this anywhere, but Canada has had a program like this for quite a while. Ten years ago, they refashioned it, but limited it to 60 entrepreneurs. Publicly, they limited the applicant pool to 500. A friend of mine who works closely with the Canadian government said privately that they found a way to let all of the applicants immigrate.
