Democrat Judge Crystal Wise Martin recently ordered an editor to take down an editorial criticizing city officials in Mississippi. Of course. And without a hearing. Of course.

Here’s the TRO and the editorial in question: (1) Adam Steinbaugh on X: “Wow: The City of Clarksdale, Mississippi, got a court order yesterday directing a newspaper to delete an editorial criticizing city officials — without a hearing. Here’s the TRO issuing the prior restraint: https://t.co/dIL1AgLhI1” / X
Did the ACLU come down on the side of free speech and the First Amendment? Are you kidding me?
The language in question seems purposefully vague. The people of Clarksdale want more police. But the language — not shared in a public hearing — is purposefully vague and doesn’t specify that the additional taxes will directly and completely support the police department.
Democrat Mayor Chuck Espy celebrated. His father was the mayor, too. And Judge Martin took over from her mother.
Incidentally, in 2022, Judge Martin blocked $10 million of federal pandemic money to be used improving infrastructure at private schools.
