    Those evil millionaires and billionaires.

    Like Bernie Sanders.

A wealth tax will absolutely sink the candidate who promotes it.  And if somehow it is passed will sink our economy.  if you are looking to Elizabeth Warren for ideas to address the deficit, then maybe I understand. As for Sanders, he is an absolute clown.  if he wins, this country will have passed from racial strife into rich vs poor. That conflict will be equally divisive.  Which is, of course, precisely what Democrat are always seeking.

Until the end of the month when an election will be called.  Trump’s loud support for tariffs and silly talk of making Canada the 51st state has reduced Pierre Poilevre’s once-over whelming lead over the Liberal Party.  i think he will win, but I must admit, I don’t know much about Carney.

Everything you describe is conjecture about your fear of what Trump will do in the future and, as fiction, it is almost entirely not true.  In fact, because progressives are totally self-absorbed, they assume that the way they have done things will almost certainly be what Trump will do – in reverse.    I wish that were true, but Democrats have never had to suffer any consequences for the illegal, undemocratic and immoral things they have done for decades; certainly the period since Obama came on the scene.  The vast majority of the oligopoly is on your side, BT.  That’s why Kamala could raise a billion dollars for her campaign in a nanosecond because all your Soroses and Hoffmans and Steyers.  You experience not getting your way for a week and you’re screaming about the extremists on the right taking away rights.  Just wait.  We’re only just getting started.  We won’t even need to wiretap your leaders, or lie about your demonstrators.  Go ahead and speak your piece.  But if you get treated like the minority you have always been, just remember.  Your side has been doing MUCH worse for many years.  I just hope this current surge of common sense lasts for a good long while.

Zeihan is not the guy to turn to for economic insights.  He is great for geopolitical insights, especially in Southeast Asia.  He is mostly Keynesian.

If you’ve been following developments in Argentina over the last year you already know the blueprint Trump wants to follow.  Dramatically reduce spending and simplify and eliminate regulations.  Combined w/ strict control of the money supply and a simplified tax code, inflation will go away and we will be on a glide path to budget surpluses.

It’s a bit of a pet peeve for me, but I can’t keep myself from correcting folks when they say, “when Clinton balanced the budget .  .  .”.  Of course, he did no such thing.  Until the mid-terms in 1994, he did everything he could to discredit the policies in the Contract With America.  As distinct from Obama, Clinton had no separate agenda to pursue, so he just turned on his heel and led the parade.  Like in all things, he was an immoral opportunist who had a gift for reading political tea leaves.

It’s like Reagan/Carter.  Everybody was saying that was too close to call and Reagan won the popular vote by over 10% and in the EC Reagan curb-stomped him.

I don’t think 2020 was real close, but that’s water under the bridge.  Since then, the Hispanic vote has moved 20 points in Trump’s favor, the African-American vote has moved 15, the Jewish and Catholic vote has moved in his direction.  What voting group move toward Harris to that extent?  Middle East?  Asian?  They were already behind the radicals and I seriously doubt there was any meaningful change.

I’m in trouble now.  This line of analysis is so compelling to me, I am huuugely vulnerable to emotional collapse if Kamala wins.  But my desire not to embarrass my fellow savage patriots will keep me strong.  If that happens, we’ll just have to start working on “next steps”.  😇😎😛

Pretty amusing.  She sits ripping Donald Trump for being so damn evil and she’s screaming that his nasty commentary creates all the hate in the country and she goes on and on and on .  .  .

The money supply is now crashing as Powell took drastic action to reduce inflation.  Inflation has come down, but we haven’t felt any of the impact of these actions yet.  Naturally, that effect is lagged until after the election.  I’m thinking it might be a good play to buy puts on the S&P 500, although I’m sure that idea has already been priced into the market.

You are right, Mick.  Borrowers with fixed rate mortgages will benefit from inflation.  But the vast majority of mortgages (over 90%) are fixed.  Certainly, inflation causes all sorts of financial hardship in other areas of peoples’ lives, but the benefit to fixed rate mortgage borrowers is unambiguous.

“The only people who benefit from inflation are governments who are in debt.”

Actually, anyone who is in debt.  Homeowners who are leveraged to the hilt, if they can control their profligate impulses.  Inflation will bail them out.

Her speech was devoid of serious content.  Vibes, my ass.  She is going to run a “blank slate” campaign and let dreamy voters decide in their own hearts that for whch they are voting.  Unicorns and rainbows.  And price controls.

It was Terry McAuliffe who was the first I heard the way they do post bith procedures when the abortion fails.  As to the lack of civility by Trump at the black journalist convention – you have GOT to hear the mederator’s opening.  F**k her!!  That is why I like Trump!!

I don’t think the national polls mean much.  This race (and all other presdential races for that matter) come down to each state.

Biden’s 7mm vote advantage in the popular vote came from 2 states.  So he had nearly a 10% win nationally but barely won.
