ParticipantI continue to believe that a confluence of factors make things ripe for more significant change starting in 2028: the Trump/Maga effect, unsustainable deficits, a less stable world, etc. feel like whoever wins there will be a lot of noise but no substantive decision making. Of course, most predictions are wrong, starting with mine

ParticipantI worry about unintended consequences in general, and capital flight in particular.

Participantthat is seriously funny!

ParticipantI actually think it is a good “strategy” for her to be as un-substantive as possible for as long as she can. But good strategy for her does not mean good for democracy . . . this is definitely bad for democracy and informed voting.

ParticipantMr. Trump is obviously very persuasive!

Participantwould not surprise me. he continues to be the darling of many, so obviously has some skills. I say this because to my eye California has not been well-governed, so I might have expected his name to not be spoken of so highly nationally.

ParticipantThis is pathetic . . . need more to step up and call this dotage out!
Hurlburt88
ParticipantI think this is not even remotely surprising. The 2 surprising things to me in the last week have been that Biden has not already stepped down, and that Harris is even being floated. But I am not a politician, just a double-hating voter.

Participantjust ran across this article which feels related

ParticipantThis just strikes me as totally out-of-touch with voter sentiment, in addition to be unwise for society. I am not in California . . . am I missing something?

ParticipantBeyond being frustrated with the current choices in front of us . . .
I do see possibility of withdrawal if he can’t effectively debate. even the possibility he is being set up by his own people.
Or, he will debate effectively and this will look like a rumor.
I have no idea, but I do know I am not as sharp as I was in my 20’s, and I am decades behind both primary candidates.

Participantfarm work is hard! I worked on my grandparent’s farm every summer until I was 12 . . . for free. At 12 I got a paper-route. At 16 started as maintenance person/janitor for a small dry cleaner. Great job! had to do all the cleaning of course, but also learned to keep the cleaning fluids in the proper “ranges” for various chemical properties, learned what every chemical was for, learned how to maintain boilers, replace steam pipes, deal with inspections, etc. at 17 added a SUnday-only job to that managing a small bookstore while the owner took a day off.
I had a decent amount of money saved for school as a results. Throw on some financial aid and generous student loans, and I limped through financially!

ParticipantI am an amateur . . .
I believe nightime heat radiation to space is in the infrared spectrum, which thin clouds reflect at a higher level than those same clouds reflect daytime sunlight, which is across a broad spectrum. all about percentages versus all or nothing
the article is just frustrating . . . whether an electrical cable or pipeline or highway or an experiment it seems too easy to stop things sometimes

ParticipantI continue to lean to consumption taxes as superior. don’t penalize aggregation of weath or hard work, and don’t drive a wealth-flight.
