I found this useful when trying to define fascism. Uses primary source material and traces the philosophical evolution that lead to fascism in Italy and the version in Germany. Trigger warning for those who can’t handle mentioning or quoting “Mein Kampf,” even in this context.
If you counter with Jason Stanley or Ruth Ben-Ghiat, I don’t see how their claims to understand fascism differ from a teenage Lister from “Red Dwarf,” linked below. Their refusal to acknowledge authoritarian acts by Justin Trudeau or Jacinda Ahren, are just some recent examples of their lack of credibility.

First tracking poll I’ve seen in a while where he has positive approval. Interesting data point (considering it’s a daily tracking poll).
Did we figure out who burned down Notre Dame? If you blame a worker’s cigarette, I don’t find that credible given the history of France.
The move is to always blame the adults in the room who ask for austerity. Happened in Greece, Spain, etc., and the UK. Let’s see, out of control spending caused inflation, which causes the Fed to (belatedly) raise rates, which caused bank failures. And now the government wants to spend even more.
Because of inflation, my savings are worth 1/3 less, and I need to generate higher returns to keep pace. In all likelihood, Gen Z may not get to retire if current trends continue. Also, it is draining Social Security at a faster pace. Not to mention that debt service by the federal government will triple (at least) because of the combination of more debt and higher interest rates. The average mortgage is no longer affordable to an average family. 24 months of real wages decline has families under financial stress. All of this from fiscal irresponsibility (and the Fed’s addiction to easy money since 2008). Might as well rip the band-aid off so we learn a lesson.

Scott Adams has a theory that AI can create what humans consider beautiful, but will have a hard time determining what people find funny.
The United States and Joe Biden are now the ONLY major country on the planet that doesn't have a defined, well articulated plan to get its citizens out of Sudan.
The only one.
Such major powers as Bangladesh, Lithuania, and Ecuador got their citizens out.
But not America.

The French and the Italians (and Jordanians, Spanish, Germans and Greeks, among others) will have to evacuate Americans.

In general terms, he’s doing fine. I’m amazed the economy / stocks are doing fine. Look for record earnings this past quarter (in inflated dollars). Real world conditions are bad, and financial stress is everywhere. Yet….
I would like to put a ballot measure on to go back to the old ways of voting. Maybe a la carte? Voter ID, ballot harvesting y/n, auditing / evidence preservation, no more universal mail-in ballots (still available on request), and same day counting (no more 2 weeks for results) would all be fair game. I think the majority of California voters don’t want it taking 2 weeks to count ballots, and want a more transparent system.
The Dems already got the Gascon recall tossed on flimsy grounds. Doesn’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence in our voting systems, regardless of which party is in power.

*shrug* Just another opportunity to blame someone else for inflation. Like the Carter administration, the oil shock will happen *to* this administration. Devaluing the dollar and abandoning domestic production have nothing to do with it. Draining half the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was the right move at the time, who could have anticipated that it would leave the US without a cushion?
