His heart wasn’t in it anymore, and I think it showed.  I cannot say enough good things about the way he represented the university.  I had quibbles with the way he ran the program, but he was a class guy to the end.  Even the timing is good, if Chris Peterson is willing to come out of retirement, and there’s some sort of plan for the coaching search.

Agree, but it has to be stated that he is leaving the program in absolute tatters.

I appreciate what he accomplished through 2019. The program went really soft after that.

This will be a very unique rebuilding challenge, since it has to be done without the portal.

Bernard and the admins above are content to let our program descend out of D1.

“I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I
