Actually, Rock displayed one of the more amazing examples of a professional approach. He was slapped by an international superstar and didn’t really leave character.  It was tragic but amazing to watch.

Agree that the acceptance speech was awful, especially on reflection. Love makes you do strange things.  Truth. Ask OJ.

Smith should be ostracized but we will see. I personally wonder where security was. Amazing that ANYBODY could just walk on stage, including Will Smith.

I’m amazed at the lack of condemnation.  Rock is a comedian. The joke may have been in poor taste, but it wasn’t even close to a Don Rickles insult.

Smith has serious issues.  I can’t believe the lack of action on this. It’s like abuse that is “inside the family.”

    A terrible precedent.

    Ppp recipient here.

Not at all shocking there was fraud and a lot of it. Easy money.

That said, the oversight wasn’t likely the issue, so I don’t get the trump bashing. The issue was the statute was written to get money flowing right away. And it did so.

I can tell you that I used the money to hire, since business was impacted but not imperiled, and those hires have ultimately been good. I like to think it did what it was supposed to in my case.

Sad but I think CC’s view is close to mine.  I see Russia’s move as just like Germany invading Poland in wwII . No difference except for the optics of the media. The invasion takes time and reports of Ukrainian resistance are promising but altogether ignorant of the realities of size.

China could be emboldened but that doesn’t matter. Absent a change in western values China’s approach will win. China is slowly pushing a knife into the hearts of the free world and we pay them to do it.  Putin’s mistake is using guns and bombs.

We show our principles when we continue to buy Russian oil.

Yeah, I think that the perspective one has to take on MTG is that she is the AOC, Talib and Omar but from a different part of the political spectrum.

Just as much hate from the left as from the right.  A pox on both their houses.

And they will take Taiwan with strength built out of American capital.

    History is ironic.

Weak leadership leads to being taken advantage of. Crimea was annexed under Obama, and it’s one of the big jumping off points for todays invasion under Biden.

awful, awful news. Totally foreseeable. Next up? Taiwan.

Clinton started the “looks like America” nonsense.

    Obama continued it.

Biden has brought it off the deep end.

Karl Marx gets attribution for the quote that “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.”

    Seems appropriate to this case.

To be fair, it’s actually smart advice. You don’t eff with the Chinese on Chinese soil.  You have no rights.  At all.

Unfortunately I have a hard time seeing this sort of embarrassment as partisan. The parties both run governments that are failing in this category and have been for years.

The politicians just don’t garner a lot of votes for directing cash to rusted girders under bridges that still “work” when they can direct that cash to teachers or police unions. Sad fact.

I was in SF last summer and passed a storefront that had a placard out front that said “We love drug addicts.”

I thought it was a shame, and then realized so does Starbucks.
