The juxtaposition of three viewpoints on American greatness/American exceptionalism. The first is Jeff Daniels as a forgettable fictional newsroom character on a forgettable television show:
(4) The Newsroom – America is not the greatest country in the world anymore…(Restricted language) – YouTube
BTW, I like how Daniels insults and rips a sophomore for the question and rips off a dozen stats, including three embarrassing (and incorrect) stats. He conveniently omits numerous “We’re #1” facts, including highest GDP, most immigrants, most patents issued, health expense per capita, country’s company market capitalization, gold reserves, # of millionaires and billionaires, life science research, clinical trials, nobel prize winners, space launches, top universities, and olympic medals, to name but a few.
But “Newsroom” was fictional. A CNN guest says America was never great.

And lastly, Irish immigrant Bono of U2, speaking at Georgetown:
Bono Speech at Georgetown – Keeping Faith with the Idea of America
“That’s how we see you around the world…as one of the Greatest Ideas in human history, right up there with The Renaissance, right up there with crop rotation, and the Beatles’ White Album…this country was the first to claw its way out of darkness and put that on paper.”
