Gentlemen & Others:
“I was born a poor black child” (the start of “The Jerk”). Actually, I was born & raised 20 minutes north of Mexicali, MX in Brawley, CA and attended my first school shooting in 1975; along with too many stabbings to count. My wife of 36 years (come next month) says I am more “Mexican” than she is and her last name is Gutierrez and mine is Skillman. She was a Brannerite that I asked to marry me after dating for one whole week. I’m not stupid! I lived in Lagunita (Granada), the trailers and then the rest of my Stanford years at Kappa Sigma a year (or 4!) behind gpn38.
I picked up my first gig as a civil engineer/surveyor in Yuma, AZ (’84 – ’86), but have also lived in Desert Hot Springs, CA (’86 – ’87), Brawley, CA again (’87 – 03′), Paradise, CA (’03 – ’20) and finally, Wylie, TX in about 3 months (’20 – ). I’m a registered Civil Engineer in California (and formerly in Arizona) and a Licensed Land Surveyor in California too.
I have strong opinions against social programs having been surrounded by such most of my life. All are a waste of taxes and I happen to believe in helping people directly. I became a gun owner in 2016 and fell into the 2nd amendment rhetoric by default. The rest will come out over time.
