Harris has set a deadline to declare her intent to run for Governor of California by the end of this summer.

A very small part of me wants to see her run for Gov. because it would be the most entertaining political train wreck of all time. It’s hard to think of a worse, less-qualified candidate for…well…anything. She was good at one job, and one job only, that of prosecutor. She was a fairly conservative DA in a liberal town. But she’s not a politician. She was the very definition of a DEI hire, Biden said so when he elevated her to the VP role. Biden resented being forced out of the 2024 race, and he endorsed Harris out of pure spite. I’m sure he and Jill enjoyed watching her crash and burn as much as I did.

Democrats were — and still are — horrified at what her candidacy did to the Democratic party. The Republicans control everything, thanks in large part to her ineptitude. Hillary Clinton at least had a successful President for a husband. Joe Biden was the last remaining Democratic moderate who could pretend he wouldn’t embrace a fully Progressive agenda.

But Harris? Wow. Just…wow. All the excesses, shortcomings and failures of the Progressives all rolled into one deeply flawed political candidate. She literally tried to walk back 15 separate unpopular political positions! Of course, you can’t. One or two? Sure. Three or four? Eh…very difficult. But fifteen? Ah…no.

And still…she raised and spent (more than) a billion dollars. And still lost with Trump spending 1/3rd what she did. Democrats everywhere say she’s finished as a major candidate…for anything. She was an utter, complete, total failure.

The funniest part is that in any other state, she would have slunk back home with her tail between her legs. But she has the great good fortune to be from California, home of the woke Progressives and the Six Major Democratic Support Vehicles:

      1. Hollywood
      2. Silicon Valley
      3. Wall Street West (VCs, private equity)
      4. Big Media
      5. Big Academia
      6. Big Law

All six are in California in vast amounts. And true to form, the Los Angeles Times has not only endorsed Harris for 2028 CA Governor, they literally begged her to run in an Op-Ed.

The sad and scary thing is that…she’d probably win. She’d be a shoe-in. She has the name recognition, the connections, the big CA donors. In spite of the DEI failures resulting, literally, in entire towns burning down, the land of the undocumented immigrant will vote her in as Governor.

And if you thought Gavin Newsom was a shitshow? Wait until you get Governor Harris.

That’s just the first bad news. If Trump fails…the Progressives will win 2028. There aren’t many moderate Democrats left any more, and if Trump fails, they will repudiate everything he does, just as Trump repudiates every Progressive move.

      Wrong, Mick.

She was not a particularly good prosecutor. Loathed by most of her colleagues..

I left the DAs office in 2007, but long enough to have heard of Kamala Harris and be aware of the dislike of most of the others.

I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.

I think I was more shocked when I read that she was good at the job.

She strikes me as a base opportunist.

But that was because she was too conservative, right? Progressives hated her, right?

Would you say she was better at being a prosecutor, California’s Attorney General, Senator or Vice President?

Well, that’s like going 0 for 4, with three K’s. At least she made contact in her first AB. . . .

Totally apt comparison. Believe me, don’t think she was a great DA, but she sucked at it less than her other three roles. It matches with her personality. Remember how painful it was to watch her answer reporter questions? It’s because DA’s don’t answer questions, they ask them. They’re only comfortable when they have all the facts and all the power on their side. They are completely and totally uncomfortable in a freeform environment. The opposite, in other words, of the current President.

Harris grilling Brett Kavanaugh during Senate Confirmation hearings was almost embarrassing.  Watching her and Mazie Hirono was like watching a couple of Chihuahuas taking on a grizzly bear.

Right. But it was clearly her comfort zone, whereas answering embarrassing questions from reporters was not.

I still don’t understand how the Democratic party let her candidacy go forward. Just because the outgoing President endorsed her is no reason to subject the country to the colossal embarrassment. It ruined the Democrats until (a) the upcoming midterms if Trump fails or (b) the 2028 presidential election if Trump succeeds.

BTW, Bill Maher agrees with me…

‘Real Time’ Crowd Goes Silent as Bill Maher Reacts to Kamala’s Plans to Run for Gov.

One other thing that gets basically no play…Trump’s people have been with him for decades. Harris’ people can’t stand her, her turnover was legendary. Dr. Ben Carson agrees:

      They Never Talk About This…

Kamala Harris will make her decision to run for California Governor by end of the summer. Former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra (former BIden official) announced his CA gubernatorial run on Wednesday.

Kamala Harris: ‘I’m not going anywhere’

Early polls show that 57% of California stone idiot voters support Harris. Former Rep. Katie Porter has 9%. Speaker of the CA Assembly show Villaraigosa and the current Lt. Gov. Kounalaki at 4% each.

Kamala Harris is Democratic front-runner for California governor in 2026: Poll

Here’s the really fun part. Nearly half of all Californians are considering voting for a Republican. In fact, Californians are trending toward more conservative viewpoints:

      • 73% in favor of Prop 36 and tougher drug and theft laws.
      • 72% see homelessness as a huge problem
      • 71% say Democratic leadership haven’t addressed cost of living issues
      • 60% oppose free healthcare for undocumented immigrants
      • only 24% think transgender males should compete in female sports.

In a Politico/UC Berkeley poll, California influencers seem indifferent to Kamala Harris’ potential run for CA Governor. Make no mistake, California’s registered voters seem to think it’s a good idea. 33% report feeling “joyful” at the prospect.

      The influencers…different story:

      1. 36% feel “indifferent”
      2. 22% feel “mostly excited”
      3. 20% feel “irritated”
      4. 4% feel “outraged”

Independent voters (like me) have a low level of enthusiasm for Ms. Harris’ bid. 21% feel “hopeless” and 26% feel “irritated.” (Throw me in the “despondent” camp).

Interesting LA Times article. Apparently she’s genuinely torn whether to run a disastrous campaign for President or torment California residents as our Governor.

The author asks “Why do you want to be California’s Governor?” And he draws a parallel to Bobby Kennedy, who torpedoed his presidential run when he couldn’t answer the question, not really. And she’s the worst extemporaneous speaker of any major politician I’ve ever seen. The answer is, she wants the power and the limelight. But I suspect California voters want more.

Incidentally, 10 Californians have already declared their intention to run for Governor. Harris’ current CA approval rating is 50%, not a screaming success.

Supposedly, Kamala Harris wants to be our Governor, the Governor of the great state of California.

Then why did she skip the California state Democratic convention? Tim Walz showed up. Cory Booker showed up. Harris didn’t. And Newsom didn’t show up either.

The BBC is saying that Harris clearly wants to run for President again, citing her (a) absence from the California Democratic convention and (b) the lackluster video address she delivered.

I still find it stunning that neither Harris nor Newsom showed up for the event. Newsom attended a separate Democratic Governor’s conference in Oregon.

Buttigieg is ahead of Harris in the most recent Emerson College poll, 16% to 14%. In November, 2024, Harris was ahead of Buttigieg 37% to 4%.

      Results:

      1. Buttigieg, 16%
      2. Harris, 13%
      3. Newsom, 12%
      4. AOC, 7%
      5. Shapiro, 7%
      6. Bernie Sanders, 5%
      7. Cory Booker, 3%
      8. Gretchen Whitmer, 3%

A McLaughlin poll in May had Harris ahead 29% to 10%. A Morning Consult poll last week had Harris at 34% with Newsom at 11% and Buttigieg at 7%.

Apparently, Democratic donors based in California are worried that Kamala will do to California’s Democrats what she did to the Nation’s Democrats.

      The reader comments are priceless.

Kamala running and probably winning will be the final nail in the West Coast’s coffin.   I say west coast because it is hard to discern one entrenched left liberal super majority from another.  I believe there is a weekly conference call between governors of Cali, OR and WA to exchange creative ways to milk taxpayers.

Here’s an interesting new poll by Emerson College, conducted in two separate tranches of between 2,000 and 2,400 CA voters. Kamala Harris has 95% name recognition among California voters. She is still the preferred favorite, but of just 24% of the voters.

The next most widely recognized name is, fundamentally, nobody. The name recognition for the other candidates is minimal, no one else has more than 9% support; e.g., Rick Caruso (ran against Karen Bass for mayor), Xavier Becerra, Katie Porter from Orange County, Eleni Kounalakis. 40% say they aren’t sure.

In other words, it’s a wide open field. And for someone with such wide name recognition, Harris is not a preferred candidate.

A separate Morning Consult poll conducted with 1,000 voters reveals Harris to be the leader for the 2028 Dem ticket with 34% support. Buttigieg is the leader in a separate Emerson survey.

Could Kamala Harris lose California gubernatorial race? What new poll says
