I should think Biden’s unpopularity could also hurt democrats down ballot. And this in a year with a tough senate map for democrats.

However, Biden still has hope.  Republicans in the house are acting so stupidly with their very own foolishness around the speakership.  In a time of war and fiscal crisis, no legislating, no investigations, no spending limits, no changes to border security policy…with votes for Boehner and Zelden as icing on their cake.  We are poorly led…and we voted for them.”

WOW…was I wrong. I didn’t even know who was at the negotiating table.

After Emmer’s two hour candidacy, it’s clear Trump is at the table.  He obviously has veto power on the selection of the next speaker, but is he a king maker?  He won’t accept Paul Ryan part deux if he is elected in 2024, but what does he want?  He’s got a limited number of confidants, if any as he didn’t veto Emmer until after the Gaetz eight voted for him.  They got no heads up, no cover.

So the question remains, what’s the end state Trump wants and who is he negotiating with?  I don’t know.  However I wonder if he seeks the destruction of the Biden presidency?  Biden has two wars, a border disaster that is killing his polls in both hard blue states and red states, now a looming government shutdown and Trump is keeping the Speakership vacant.

What does Joe do? You can try to blame house republicans, but he’s the head of the government.  House republicans didn’t open the border.  They didn’t start the Ukraine war.  They didn’t offer Iran sanctions relief worth $80 billion +.

Is Trump playing serious hardball?  Is he vindictive enough to use the speakership/functioning of the Congress to seek retribution for the Russia lies and the weaponization of the DoJ?  I don’t know.  But it would take a hard man to pursue such a strategy.  And who’s prepared to try and stop him?  I believe Jeffries and Pelosi have misread this as badly as I have.  Abe Cheney?  She lost by 40% in her race and Trump owns the Republican base.  House moderates, aka RINOs?  They don’t have the votes to install a speaker and that’s bad news for K Street.  They can’t deliver the status quo. I’m anxious to see how this plays out.

A Polish prospective on immigration policy. It’s not obvious that he establishes a causal link to explain Poland’s relative over performance, however the observational record is growing. Macron had to ban Hamas demonstrations and yet a French teacher has been killed by an imported Chechen jihadist.

Yo Obama, how’s that third term working out?  Here are the two big questions for the 2024 cycle.

How do democrats dump Biden and Harris?

What stiff will they put up?

I welcome the Ilhan Omar narrative. Who am I going to believe, her or my lying eyes?

But now a days I’m an outlier. I welcome Riley Gaines sharing her views at SF State. I welcome judges with a perspective to Stanford Law School. And I welcome parents with views to share at school board meetings.

I take exception to political hacks like Hockel trying to abridge speech. To hell with her. Her motives aren’t aligned with my free speech rights.

A London paper, The Express is reporting that the Taliban has asked Iran, Iraq and Jordan for passage to support Hamas in this conflict.  They offer to capture Jerusalem…with American weapons?  🤦🏼‍♂️

    This would complicate things considerably.

Biden’s three minute statement failed to mention Iran even though they took credit for the conflict.  They were the source for the rockets?

Now reported by the Israeli UN Ambassador that perhaps dozens of Americans are now being held hostage. Confirmed by our global guitarist Blinken. The time has come for unequivocal and decisive application of power against Hamas, Hezbollah with a warning to Iran. All hostages, American and Israeli NOW.

“IMO, the Fed should be embracing a greater role in policy making.  Lord knows the idiots in the WH can’t even spell policy, let alone formulate one.”

Perhaps not?  I am concerned about the introduction of political concerns into monetary policy. That hasn’t worked so well at the FBI, the DoJ, Homeland Security, the DoD or the CIA.

I think I’d prefer a single target role for the FED. Keep inflation at 2% and stable. Political decisions by policy makers keep our deficit at $2 trillions annually and has our deficit at $34 trillion. Absent a focused and uncompromising effort to stability the stupidity of fiscal policy will not be challenged. People in DC should lose their jobs. There should be a very public policy conflict between the FED and elected policy makers so the debate comes front and center. (Look at Biden’s confused statement today.)

In my memory, the only time policy “cooperation” between political leadership and the FED benefited the nation was Volker/Reagan. Political leadership had the stones to take the heat for misguided policy and declare, “Let’s roll”.  We don’t have Reagan types in DC.

I saw an interview with Nancy Mace of South Carolina, one of the eight.

She stated she’s received threats…not physical, no instead that her fundraising would dry up.

During a five minute interview she gave her fundraising web site address four + times. The eight have the sword of Damocles overhead?

Lower rates, higher inflation. Not good for bidenomics.

$2.5 trillion to borrow in the next 12 months. What’s the FED going to do?

Interest rates go up or they capitulate on shrinking the balance sheet and feed the inflation monster.

    Rock meet hard place.

Any guesses on what path they choose?

    I don’t know about you Neo, but I can’t wait to hear KJP’s monologue/excuses explaining $95 oil.

Trump has a chance to exacerbate that “political problem” you mentioned with a strong narrative. Is he up to the task?

Silicon Valley is like Rick Moranis’s plant in the movie…feed me.

Recently the WSJ ran an article about META getting ready to launch AI bots aimed at children. To increase “engagement”?  They’ve reached the point in their “Audrey” lives they don’t need the Whitehouse, the FBI, the CDC or the DHS to craft a controlling narrative for them to distribute. They feel they are fully capable of independently furthering their self interests, thank you very much.

Nothing bothers a politician more than being told you’re past your code date!  😂
