I still think Trump wins, but am getting a distinctly “red wave” feeling.  I think in my little ideological corner of the internet where x and Facebook pushes me, Trump should win in a landslide.

when I step away from that, which I do frequently (for example I maintain a NYT subscription, don’t ask me why), it seems equally or more plausible that Kamala could win. I really don’t like her as a president. She’s awful. But she could win because…

…Trump doesn’t know how to shut up, never mind when.  He’s truly terrible down the stretch. I caught him on Fox and friends this morning and he was all over the place. I wish he could just shut up but that’s him. I would love to meet the guy and have a dinner with him. I would enjoy it, I bet, but man I don’t like him as a politician.

I saw this on twitter when it happened.  How is it even possibly explainable?

They should be investigated for election interference if you ask me.

I think John Kelly is probably an otherwise honorable man who really couldn’t deal with failing.

I also think that people overestimate the honor of general officers. They are sometimes as much politicians as military leaders.

Do I believe a guy like Trump could say, in a private conversation, that some people who died in combat got suckered into it? Absolutely. It’s almost on brand. Do I think that means he hates the military?  Of course not.

Trump is as American as they come. I wish we would just admit it. I can guarantee you plenty of people in America have sat around the campfire saying “hell naw I am not the guy that’s gonna charge that machine gun nest!  I wouldn’t want to be the loser with the short straw on that one!  That suckers gonna get blown up!”

    See what I did?

I’m starting to get a “red wave” feeling and we all know how that turned out in 2022.

I used to be a silver fan, and after reading this can only think “fuck that guy.”

it reads like “we are great but the world is against us.”  Very typical.

Yeah.  The Trump McDonalds photo op illustrates all that is crazy about politics.  The left is apoplectic that it was an orchestrated photo op, and wants me to believe that Biden’s presidency hasn’t been stage managed LIKE A PHOTO OP since day one.

Remember the Easter bunny directing Biden away from reporters?

    Wow that’s impressive.

    They forgot number 20:

    20.  Democrats have gone from people who would get huffy in a political discussion they disagreed with to people who will self righteously key your car for even having a Trump bumper sticker on it.  People notice that the Dems have become the party that harbors anti social assholes, and they look like everyday women.

While I will be the first to admit I don’t know what’s real anymore, it sure does look like Kamala is imploding before our eyes, and Trump is hitting a lot of really effective populist notes.

Kamala may be the worst candidate for national office in the history of the country.

Can’t believe I’m watching it but can’t turn away.

She is a walking estate tax. She will return her parents’ capital to the free market inside of a decade.

“I want to go viral for something” is a self fulfilling prophecy.

Noonan is a never Trumper who is trying her best to help Kamala without sacrificing whatever journalistic integrity she has.

Kamala has a record problem.  A smart GOP would only run on that.  She’s a marquee player in an admin that quickly became one of the most inept in history, and she has deeper history as a vapid supporter of some of the most liberal buffoonery out there.  It’s so bad that when Trump mentions a true story (she supports publicly funding sex changes for illegal alien prisoners), it’s immediately dismissed as his ridiculousness instead of hers.  She is on record as supporting some truly unbelievable stuff, because she has no understanding of economics and has grown up in a state where politics don’t really matter…the machine does.

This thing is growing. It is going to get worse before better.  A week out we start to lose major things like medicines and oxygen and basic food. Lots of people have pantries that can provide for a few days. The good news out of thr mountains is that the people seem to be doing it without the government, which of course is the whole point of wanting small government.

we haven’t come close to counting the casualties.

NYT morning note came out on how Trump might use the doj to punish his enemies.  As if it’s a hypothetical that a president would allow the doj to go after political opponents (like Biden has done for 3.5 years).

Conflating wealth tax and income tax doesn’t help.

Piketty wrote that the fundamental problem of capitalist wealth is that k, the rate of return on capital, is almost always greater than g, the growth rate of the economy.  It only reverses during major dislocations like wars.  Thus he became a poster child for anti socialists everywhere by proposing that a wealth tax level the playing field.

The older I get, the more I believe that there has to be a peaceful way of putting the brakes on massive capital accumulation without disincentivizing entrepreneurship.  I like a tax on generational wealth, so that it becomes expensive to hold shares your father held.  If anything I would argue that first generation entrepreneurs should be tax exempt, and their heirs should get double taxed.  We want more entrepreneurs and fewer socialites and “philanthropists.”
