rjnwmillParticipantLex, I think I understand your point all too well. You’re being very Bidenesque.
Advance universal goals that the overwhelming majority will support…buy American?Build Back Better? Jobs and middle class wage growth…with open borders?
Nonetheless, I agree with you. The Portland Mayor should step up to the plate with solutions…as should the N.Y. Mayor, the Chicago Mayor.
However, if these limp dicks don’t have the stones to “serve & protect” their communities, someone’s got to do it whether ANTIFA sees political opportunity or not.
And as an aside, ANTIFA is out of touch if they believe the masses will side with them when their heads are busted. Instead, after the violence and the property damage I think the masses will be with anyone who is willing to step up and end this nonsense.

rjnwmillParticipantPs: Lex, did you catch DiBlasios’s recent “solution” yesterday? The good people of BedSty must and will “take back the street corners”?
Tell me, are you partial to vigilante justice…let’s the Mayor redirect that billion to his wife’s visions; or how about an asymmetrical response on the street corner; only the bad guys are armed

rjnwmillParticipantLex, do you find this policy statement to be wrong headed?
UNITED STATES ATTORNEY MIKE STUART ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING VIOLENCE AGAINST LAW ENFORCEMENT

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – United States Attorney Mike Stuart issued the following statement regarding violence against law enforcement.
“Sadly, our law enforcement officers and police have become the target of terrible attacks. Two nights ago in McAllen, Texas, two police officers were fatally shot while responding to a domestic disturbance. Yesterday, in Bothell, Washington, two police officers were shot, one fatally, after a brief traffic pursuit.
The daily assault on law enforcement and the police has to stop. This is not ‘open season’ to attack and condemn the good people of law enforcement. It is absolutely outrageous what is happening across the nation. I cannot imagine the stress and anxiety of being a police officer today. Can you imagine the stress and anxiety not only on the officers but the moms, dads, husbands, wives and children of these public heroes who worry every moment that their loved one may not come home from simply doing their duty and doing their job? This ‘attack our cops’ mentality must end. It must end now. Our law enforcement officers deserve our respect and admiration not our condemnation.

rjnwmillParticipantLex, you sound like Abbey Hoffman. Is it 1968?
Portland has been out of control for years, not six weeks. It has been non-functioning for residents; closed streets, assaults on unbelievers. Didn’t a reporter suffer brain damage when he was hit in the head with a concrete milkshake…on a public street, in broad daylight, in front of law enforcement officers, during a peaceful protest? Hasn’t the mayor directed law enforcement to stand down during the continuing episodes of violence and property damage?
Perhaps you think federal property should be sacrificed to the mob? Perhaps you agree with AOC that the guy with the hammer in Portland was looking for bread to feed his family? Perhaps you think DiBlasio nailed it when he assured N.Y.’ers that the murder of children on the streets in daylight is attributable to COVID-19…the Chinese did it? Perhaps you found the interview with the father and grandmother of the dead one year old unpersuasive? Perhaps you feel the interview of the mother of the dead eight year old in Atlanta is easily dismissed? Perhaps you think the losses suffered by local businesses is immaterial? Perhaps you feel screwed now that you had to cancel plans for your summer sojourn to CHOP?
Good luck trying to win the day with that Trump narrative. The pictures, the palpable heartache of the victims…from Portland, from Minneapolis, from Atlanta, from NY, from D.C., from Seattle don’t lie.

rjnwmillParticipantI think they are mistaken as to what they are “accomplishing”? They feel they are in the forefront of an anti Orange movement/tsunami. I think they are misunderstanding their audience, isolating themselves from the society they seek to change & galvanizing their political opposition. AKA dead men walking.
To this point, I understand there may be interest in recalling the Seattle mayor? I understand Minneapolis “cop free” parks are so non functioning that the locals are requesting that city officials reduce the footprint?

rjnwmillParticipantMemory may be failing, but didn’t the Orange One try to do an immigration deal to benefit DACA kids; over a million? He wanted to force a broader deal that would included an end to chain migration among other things. The political opposition turned him down for the wrong reasons. Trump then tried to close down the DACA program for leverage to make a deal. He lost in court.
I don’t see this as any change at all. The program is still dead because a political deal isn’t to be made between now and November. Republicans think they can carry the day with bs about an executive order. Democrats think they will carry the day through continuing inaction. DACA recipients remain hosed in the roll of political football.
Once again a wonderful outcome is achieved by the folks who are self enriching in DC.

rjnwmillParticipantDo people pay to go to an NBA or NFL game hoping a political rally will break out? Do they show up at a political rally hoping the candidate will dribble a basketball or toss a football?

rjnwmillParticipantYes, son; that’s what the polling said earlier this week…when the Fox sample was taken…before the incidents I noted were on the record?
Fox is now posing the question, “how far left will Biden have to go?” Gee, the old man was out front on this one!

rjnwmillParticipantRoscoe, you amuse me. I too have seen a couple stories I the last several days that suggest to me that you’re as right here as the polls were in 2016.
First, Biden endorsed an Obama era regulatory framework that gives the Feds primacy in local zoning nationally. Second two street killings of children, one in N. Y. & one in Atlanta. Third, when Pelosi was asked about the trashing of the Columbus statue in her hometown of Baltimore, she chose not to criticize the lawless vandals.
It is my opinion that suburban soccer moms are as committed to NIMBY as the folks in Nantucket or Malibu. They don’t choose to live and raise families in urban blight. The 2018 democratic coalition that influenced this demographic over healthcare access will be permanently fractured/inoperative when suburbanites notice Biden’s support for Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing. The regulations permit the Feds to deny HUD funds if the locals refuse to bring the best of our urban blights to their communities.
Roscoe, Biden will lose the voting members of the 2018 coalition solely because he has chosen to chase the Sanders base; a “voting block” that proved once again in the primaries that they don’t vote.
The Orange One has his base locked. He can work the margins. Say goodnight to the senile one…and Ginsburg as well.

rjnwmillParticipantInteresting that Muir didn’t take this approach to reducing the budget. Save some money, reduce transmission risk, good for them.

rjnwmillParticipantFor me, it is difficult to evaluate the decisions to terminate individual programs without an understanding of the overall investment decisions. What funding was maintained?
How much was Shaw asked to contribute, if he was asked at all? How much did Muir contribute? If they are drawing upper quartile salaries, does performance justify those compensation packages…or are their compensation programs seen as their personal reparations benefit? We have been advised by Muir himself that he has suffered greatly because of white privilege. How many administrative positions were rif’ed in the continuing sports?
Pardon my personal prejudice, but I have little confidence that Muir got this right.
