Just announced this morning that the World cup will return to North America in 2026.

We might not have NAFTA, but we have the cup.

I recall (not so fondly) the destruction of the Stanford Stadium playing surface to facilitate the 1994 cup matches held there. Ugh.

That memory may be the reason that the new Stanford Stadium is allegedly not FIFA compliant. It is allegedly a few feet short around the edges of the field.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just think it's cute that you think yours really matters.

Maybe, but I doubt it. All I know is that removing and replacing the crown on the old stadium field left a late season rectangle of mud for a few years after the World Cup left town. It stank, too.
