LegendKeymasterIt would be funny if it weren’t killing people.

LegendKeymasterGuilty.
If you ask me, I would say that I would be happiest if I read the next about every 3 days.
I bet I check the news (wsj) every 2 hours.

LegendKeymasterGood. It’s good to be confronted with the consequences of your choices.

LegendKeymasterTrump would not be the end of the world.
The opposition to Trump’s second administration might very well be.
Keep in mind that most of the riots and some of the lockdowns were ginned up by Trump’s opposition to kill the economy and the obvious momentum Trump had. Prior to the pandemic, most people viewed Trump as unbearable. Pelosi and crew engineered massive civil unrest in the midst of a pandemic to change the narrative.

LegendKeymasterHere’s what I think:
The closer your institution is to the globalist agenda, the less free speech. So, it stands to reason that Harvard, which is the most globalist of globalist institutions by virtue of being possibly the best college in the world, is the least free because it actively courts people from countries (China) that are not free.
Oregon State, on the other hand, probably serves and graduates students to serve largely American interests. Therefore its hierarchy isn’t handcuffed by the globalist anti-freedom movement.
One man’s guess.

LegendKeymasterGotta admit, the professor made a number of bad choices that probably mean he shouldn’t teach at Stanford again, but discussing the topic and provoking discussion isn’t necessarily one of them.
- He should not have singled out students for their identity
- He should have been more sensitive so as not to discuss an emerging war that has very little factual underpinning in the news. Timing was really bad.
But I actually am not bothered by the provoking of discussion via smart-aleck responses that might reflect the knee-jerk reactions of others. Even the comment “only 6 million” can be said effectively and widely misconstrued as absolutely inappropriate. I could easily hear a very provocative professor using that as a tool for challenging students to think as broadly as possible.
I completely disagree with the comparison of the Holocaust to the Belgian Congo, but can see it as a point of discussion and debate.
I guess I’d have to have heard the facilitation approach. I often use a facilitation approach that is very adversarial in my professional life, and can assure you I don’t always hold the beliefs that I speak to in some sessions.

LegendKeymasterNot really shocking.
And, to the last point: I think it’s pretty well understood that whenever police pull back from policing, young black men pay a price.

LegendKeymasterWe probably have as many jihadis in the U.S. as Gaza has after the last few years open borders.
Thank goodness it’s a big country. Some communities have been fully overrun by virulent antisemitism rooted in Islamist sentiment. Who else elects ilhan Omar to Congress?

LegendKeymasterThe flea powder recession is likely overstated.
Inflation remains WAY above acceptable levels, and it’s just political spin to say anything otherwise. We have halved the inflation rate and we have politicians declaring victory, but it’s the absolute level of inflation that’s a really big deal.
3.7 percent inflation is nearly double the traditional target rate.

LegendKeymasterThe population is fat. I just hope our combat troops are in shape. Fat truck drivers can be effective. Fat army rangers can’t.
