It’s fascinating how prejudice is already twisting the narrative.  Israel is viewed as “punching down” and no matter the Israeli body count (currently 800 and rising) or composition (mostly civilian, including 250+ murdered at a music festival), there will be voices that, like the famous quote from ilhan Omar, minimize terrorist action as “somebody doing something” and placing the focus on the brutality of the response.

Last report is that 9 Americans are among the dead, with uncounted hostages possible.  It appears that hostage taking was systematic to provide human shields.  That’s one reason I expect Israel to take a few more days to measure twice and cut once.

No warmonger am I. But the more politically correct application of the old adage of “don’t start nothin won’t be nothin” is in effect.  This was the invasion of a country that now should be given free hand to strike back.

Israel should occupy, subjugate, and transform Gaza. The Palestinians had their chance at self government, and their government just poked the bear.

I’m sorry for the Israelis and for the innocents who will doubtless get caught up on the war within Gaza, but the actions this weekend were beyond the pale.

Our administration will continue to fiddle to satisfy some post-modern sense of “peace in our time,” I presume.

I believe what neo is writing.  Rates are going to go up more short term; and the term premium is going to continue to escalate so that long term rates compensate people for true risk of default.

borrowing makes the whole thing go, and right now borrowing is getting really expensive.  The consumer will tap out, companies will default, and then we will be right back to stimulus and loose money before ever mopping up all the loose money that was released during the last 15 years.

Powell is in a really tough spot but I have no sympathy for him and for Yellen’s “transient inflation” crowing. They made their own bed. They should have been tightening from the pandemic rate lows during 2021 and instead just left the punch bowl spiked with ever clear.

Wait until Congress gets a load of long treasuries at 7-8 percent.  Gonna be hard to ignore deficits at that point when debt service projections start to have a “T” on them.

By the way, is there a contest among the political parties to appoint the least qualified, but most controversial people to high office?  I think it’s a play on the old adage that no publicity is bad publicity.  Look at the De Santis situation:  He’s an accomplished executive in FL with a bland personality and he’s practically dead in the water, whereas Trump is trump and gets more unearned publicity than any person in history, perhaps?

Californians like to thumb their nose at Republicans and in this case at pretty much anyone right of Stalin.

I did not.  Have no interest until things sort out.  It’s all kabuki.

My theory:  All those issues that are less covered today as we rush blindly toward an electric future will simply be the big intractable problems from which future political hay will be made.

Gold bars?  Like A-Team gold bars?  I had no idea that was actually a thing.

Makes you wonder what might be in the garage with Joe’s corvette.  Might be worth poking into the walls of his beach house(s). No telling how cash is laundered these days.

Some would argue that Trump’s support is bolstered BECAUSE of the criminal charges.  People who view the administrative state as a persecution tool to be wielded solely by the Democrats are being more agitated every day.

I say this as someone who wishes Trump would go away, but the reality is the more they charge him, the less he can leave.

Yes he should. It’s his last chance to use the “transitional candidate” cover.

Might be a chance this thing was actually flown someplace to hide it and steal tech.

    It’s a travesty.

That said, when New York liberals are speaking of immigrants “destroying” their city, you know the worm is turning.

    Truly unbelievable.

Billions of dollars of technology and it can’t send a find my iPhone signal?

Maybe that’s too flippant:  but a Cessna carries a little inertia operated beacon that activates in case of a sudden stop. Seems like a multi hundred million dollar fighter could as well (and I say that knowing that radio emissions from a stealth fighter are a very very bad thing in general).

last flippant comment:  I bet the Chinese know where it is.

If he were the manager of your local wal mart he would have been retired years ago.

Instead he’s the leader of the free world.

By the way, Trump would have been fired too.  Maybe not retired, but HR would have been all over him.
