ParticipantI also don’t believe EV’s are a fad. ICE’s are in a stage of the technology curve where improvements are incremental–I worked for years at GM Powertrain as hard as I could on this. EV’s are in a very different stage where the technology learning curve is a lot steeper (better for consumers each year). the consumer acceptance curve normally starts with the lunatic fringe (we are past that), early adopters, and then gets into mainstream. To me we are moving into mainstream, and this is where the cute but impractical products will get weeded out or just be niche. To me, there will be an upscale segment with longer ranges and more features, a mass segment wtih shorter ranges and lower prices, and then a heavy duty segment with need for more torque and longer ranges. It is that last segment where I struggle a bit with EV technology. I know Tesla has the semi . . . but fluids are so energy dense! So whether pickup truck, semi, farm equipment, ships, or planes . . . I question battery power versus petrol or hydrogen or ???

ParticipantIMO a victory for those who believe a “president” should be held to equal or higher standards than those over whom the president presides (wow, that sounds like Captain Jack Sparrow)

ParticipantCornfed, so then who steps in for both of the Dem candidate roles? Or up in the air as of now?

ParticipantTHanks for this post, Mick. Dysfunctional can also mean prone to dangerous miscalculations.

ParticipantGuilty as charged. I definitely missed the beginnings of the decline in SHaw’s performance, and believed he could learn and adjust. ARGGGG

Participantmy summary:
- looked fundamentally sound overall
- played with enthusiasm
- Some great talent
- little depth . . . every tweaked ankle is terrifying
- I was hoping for more out of the running game
- downfield pass defense may be the scariest dimension of our team this year . . . see depth comment above for terror augmentation
Curious for JohnnyO’s take

ParticipantHowever . . .
When I cut through my frustrations with individual politicians, I continue to reach the conclusion that we are right to support Ukraine standing up to Russia, and if we can do this will improve European security and discourage CHinese aggression in Asia. And there is always another hot-spot (or multiple) requiring focus in the future.

ParticipantIf I follow your drift, I like it: society should (re-)commit to honesty and trust will rise. I played hoops this morning and lightly deflected a ball just before it went out-of-bounds. no one saw it except me, and I said so. Later in the game 2 of us went for the ball and it went off my opponent. He thought it was off me, but when I said, “no, it was off you last” he accepted it. POliticians, take note!

Participantfrom standpoint of my business, this makes sense. Things have plateaued and evern started retreating both in terms of our supply costs and our sales pricing

ParticipantI hope playing trombone is HS band is not “too” odd . . . I particularly loved playing trombone in jazz band
On a more serious note, very informative post, Mick

ParticipantI suspect that is tantamount to targeting a foreign leader, and we don’t want to open up that can of worms in general–opens us and allies up to same behavior down the road.

ParticipantI am not particularly disturbed by the oil news in terms of impact the economy since energy and oil spending as % of GDP has dropped steadily over time. Yes, it is inflationary, but less leverage than in past decades. Also, higher pricing drives increased exploration and opens “marginal” production.
I definitely am disturbed by oil prices going up and benefitting certain authoritarian governments.

ParticipantI find this upsetting–will fly my flag more.
one strange/ironic twist: Republicans and Democrats seem to value money equally.
