MSM has a lot to answer for.  And that’s coming from someone that can’t stand Trump.

Trump sought division (or more precisely, he sought to deepen the already deep divide). He succeeded. Had we got through his tenure without a major crisis, maybe we would have been ok.  But the pandemic hit.  And he twiddled his thumbs, acted macho after hiding in the bunker and couldn’t even wear a mask. A simple unobtrusive act that has NO physical downside.  The only benefit he gains is assuring that the most ignorant out there remain with him.

Then when the protests hit, he had no coherent message.  Other than some blather about being a “law and order President.”

He has done everything he can to assure that he’d have these battles with Govs  and Mayors of blue states.  Belittling them. Baiting them. His f—-g tweets. And they have obliged.  Turning left.  Seattle is a bad joke.  But of course, the Mayor and Gov would rather have chaos then do anything Trump would remotely support.

Trump has been everybit the disaster I anticipated. Sure he’s had a couple policy wins, got a couple conservative Justices in.  Hey, even a blind squirrel gets an occasional acorn.

For those of you that wanted everything ripped apart – congrats.  You got it.  Now it will be up to Joe Biden to piece it back together.  Good luck with that.

Well, I said  right after the ‘16 election that Trumps enduring legacy would be to move the country left.  He is the best thing that has happened to the left since Castro.   He’s the Jimmy Carter of the GOP.

Yes, they meant the former Raider. One of the great cover corners of all time.  I heard The Mayor Talking about this on KCBS. He got a huge kick out of it said one of his relatives called him and balled  him out for not telling him that he had died.  Also said and that he hasn’t got this much positive feedback in sometime.

Lots of questions. No doubt.  This is going to be a big issue moving forward.  I was actually surprised at the poll numbers I posted. Figured it would be higher percentage in favor  than 20%.

Figuring out mechanically how to do reparations, if we go that route is going to be very difficult.

I can.  And I will. Socialism?  No.  We change within the system that has essentially worked well for us.  And the world.  Which is a much bettter place as a result of the ideals our Framers set down.

There has been a lot of change for the better in race relations since Brown and the ‘64 Act.  If you question that, just look at some facts.  Start at ‘68.  Which is a sea change beginning.  Pre ‘68 I believe there had been one  major US city with a black mayor.  Forget where.  Bradley was second and I believe he was elected in ‘73.  Sinc3 then darn near every major American City has had or does has a black mayor and/or police chief.  We had a black president for 8 years.  Unthinkable in 68. There has been large systemic political gains.

Economically the wage and income gaps have narrowed since ‘68.  Wealth hasn’t.  That needs to be addressed.

We need to continue to move forward.  But tearing the system apart is no answer.  It’s a prescription for disaster.  And AA’s will lose if that is the order of the day.

Reperations.  Show me the plan  Devils in the details.  I’m open for discussion.

BTW, we  have a large African immigrant community.  Almost all our  legal immigration is people of color. And Africans keep coming to the US in large numbers  .  Is that because we are a racist nation?

Im sick and tired of negativism.  If we spent more time on positive stories, on the vast majority of Americans of all races, creeds, etc that strive for a just society and treat each other well, maybe we’d see some positive movement.  But we revel on the negative.  Fueled by a media that has an economic  stake in pushing division.  Politicians that have a political stake in pushing division so they can expand their tribal base and social media, which highlites every negative Story and essentially ignores positive.  On the latter, I read an article today on some cretin at a Kroger’s that blocked an AA woman from reaching her car.  Or something like that. The article used it as “another example of white women acting badly.”  Ok.  How bout the legions that act justly. (Or for that matter, women of all colors that act badly)

We are human being.  We fail at times.  All of us.

We can rip ourselves apart.  Maybe we will.  But I continue to believe that out better angels will come to the fore and get us through this mess.

Suit will be interesting to follow.  Federal grounds are Violations of Procedural and Substantive Due Process and the Takings Clause.

It may not survive as a Class Action – the harm to the potential class members I suspect varies significantly.  But even it it proceeds only for the named plaintiffs it could  set a significant precedent.

I see one big hurdle as the temporary nature of the “taking”. Also immunities  could come into play.

Perhaps they should move CHAZ  to Inslee’s  or Durkan’s neighborhood.  (Probably gated). Or Schumer’s. Or Pelosis. Or pick your favorite progressive Hollywood Star, rich  athlete, or Captain of Industry.

Methinks we would hear a different tune.  Nimbyism being the key.  It’s cool  as long as it’s just some in poor neighborhood that can be easily avoided.

It goes to three larger points.  First, just how truly absurd all this is getting.  Obviously the term as used in Oregon related to the juxtaposition of the meaning of civil and war.  Second, even IF it is construed as pertaining to THE Civil War, Oregon ain’t Mississippi.  Last time I checked, we won and aresult was the freeing of slaves. But we certainly can’t look at (of for) positives in our history.  Only negatives.  Third, a related point: most Americans have almost no understanding or knowledge of our history.

Not sure how to reply to a specific post. TC, I think you are overstating.  I believe that the vast majority of blacks want incremental change just as the vast majority of whites, yellows, reds and browns do.  I don’t believe that there is the level of anger amongst the majority as you claim.

Jeez Rocky.  Talk about Chicken Little.  I think I can go back to the last four elections. When Bush won some people on the left saying that’s the end when Obama won some people on the right were saying that’s the end. When Trump won  people all over the place were saying that’s the end. 😛

Now if Biden wins that’s the end. Bullshit – we’ve survived worse,  will get by and we will be fine. Have some faith. The American people are smarter and stronger collectively than people give them credit for. Sure they’ll be changes. There always are.

Family and friends.  No question.  One of the things that has been so difficult for me during this SIP is the inability to connect. I don’t mean by phone or text.  To me that barely counts.

Inwas set for a trip to visit one of my daughters and son in law. Had to cancel. I see them once maybe twice a year.  Hurts not to see them. Call me a wimp. But that’s the case.

Plus, and this is major whining, baseball is like a “friend”. It’s there everyday for me.  I’ve missed  that as well.

But at the end of the day,  I know I am incredibly blessed because I’ve had a wonderful family both growing up and (even though divorced) as an adult. I’ve got terrific daughters who I enjoy being with tremendously and great friends. A couple that have been in my life for over 50 years.

I got a roof over my head, food in my belly.  Wonderful family, wonderful friends a terrific girlfriend. When you get right down to it what else matters?
