ParticipantI think that in a 100 years or so when the history of this era is written, it will be in Mandarin by Chinese historians.
I have no opinion on where this is going but every day it is plain to see that we are entering a new “scare the crap out of everyone” event. The prior “scare the crap out of everyone” event went down a memory hole about 12 days ago. It lasted 2 years. It has been totally erased.
Kamala or someone of that calibre is going to negotiate the peace treaty for us by the way. US Taxpayers will pay for it. But who will Putin appoint stand before such an intellects?
Frankly I’m tired of the whole rotten thing.

ParticipantThe link is showing a deuce. If so something is very odd. I’m on an airbase for lunch right now and I’d expect to see some tankers on the runway. But just a normal day.

ParticipantI had it wrong. I thought 3 would be it but we are now at 2.

ParticipantThe fight against racism is our nation’s most important industry whatever the cost and has created a virtual circus of racist accusations and anecdotes.
This story is an example of conflating real news with fake news. Whatever is almost true is quite false and a dangerous error. If her constituents don’t like her just vote her out. She seems dumb rather than malicious to me.

ParticipantYou guys have really screwed up your social credit system profiles. You may find yourself blacklisted from Starbucks soon.

ParticipantGood post.
What exactly are the rules of capitalism and who writes them? You could argue FASBs? I know it’s supposed to be the AICPA but I heard once it used to a guy who worked in Stanford CT and wrote the guidance for Thomson. He was the “translator.”

ParticipantThis is a manufactured crisis. Neither Putin nor the Ukraine wanted war. Europe’s newfound dependence on Russia for energy has given Putin leverage. Europe is exposed and they did it to themselves. Shuttering nuclear plants and setting aside coal. Don’t blame Putin. Blame the western press. Blame NATO countries who are so worried they don’t even care to defend themselves.
Ukraine may be falling into the category of “what if there was a war and no one showed up?”

ParticipantAre you saying that this is just a version of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off for Putin?
“The question isn’t what are we going to do. It’s what aren’t we going to do”

Participant
How is this possible? We have a huge talent pool of very bright people in this country. And, yet, we have two WEAK, low IQ idiots in the White House at a critical time in our history. And when I say idiots I mean exactly that. They have NO clue.
Good point. There is an amazing array of idiots across the leadership landscape in the western world. The problem is that people have been slow to acknowledge the nightmare that now surrounds them. Except for truckers.
I look at these Ivy League types in Washington and on TV telling us how to think. I don’t see much genius. What I do see are liars. No conscience. No courage. No moral compass. The military is now infected. I wouldn’t hire one to mow my lawn.

ParticipantMy 3 Cents. (Inflation)
Assuming he makes a move, Putin will get whatever he sets out to get. Somehow the US taxpayer will find themselves paying for Ukrainian relief $$$. We will put more troops in Europe to keep the peace $$$. Germany gets what they want….Russian energy and continued US protection $$$. China wants dollar to continue to emplode because they own our debt and a lot of our companies$$$. China may make a move on Taiwan. US equity and bond markets in major turmoil.
We may get to DEFCON 3 (e.g. Sep 11) and it would be a good excuse to lock down the country and scare the crap out of everyone through the end of the year. I doubt we get anywhere near the cocked pistol phase. Just theater. Biden gets a blip up in the polls. Germany and Russia big winners$$$. The soulless creatures in Washington get what they want. Bigger military $$$$. It’s always about Big Green$$$.
Possible winners and losers final scores.
Putin 1 – Biden zero
Putin 1 – Ukraine zero
Germany 1 – US zero
China 1 – US and Big Green zero
NATO 1 – US taxpayer zero
US Military industrial complex 1 – US taxpayer zero
Mendacious RINOs and DINOs 1 – Inert Insipid Mealymouthed Republicans zero
Wild card, good time to throw a new Covid variant into the mix just to make everyone a lot crazier. Score a Plus 1 for Fauci.

Well Legend this is your first post 3 years 7 months ago. Before the lights go out can you update your thoughts? The debt clock is not stunning anymore. Metastasizing comes to mind.
“The US Debt Clock is something to behold.
“When you factor in the unfunded liabilities, we are inching toward $1MM in liabilities per taxpayer. That is just stunning.”

ParticipantI don’t why your post prompted me to think of this famous 1970 column by Tom Wolfe in New York magazine decades ago. Maybe the same people who make such decisions as the one you reference never change.
Anyway this is how a great writer see the class. “Radical Chic: That dinner at Lenny’s.” This is very long, funny and great writing.

ParticipantCreating current inflation stats using low Trump economy stats to prop up the current administration is pretty clever. Just for accuracy the 2019 CPI was 1.8. 2020 was 1.2. Why not add in 2009 and 1955 which were negative?
I’m watching housing prices very closely as well. They can still go to zero down no background check mortgages or 100 year mortgages.
December 9, 2021 at 7:15 am in reply to: I am shocked, shocked that Dem leaders are in cahoots with the media #5624Neodymium60
ParticipantI think to understand the media as it has become, you have to understand how revenue is generated in the digital age. The manipulation that goes on behind the scenes to monetize maximum revenue is not what it appears to be. All of the outlets on both sides from the WSJ to blogs are interconnected.
Counting eyeballs watching ABC, Facebook news feed, Fox or CNN does not tell the story either. It is far more complex and somewhat evil at times because of how technological progress can be maladapted.
The game is to get you to adapt to them for revenue and power. The tradeoff is not worth it.

ParticipantWith the African travel ban they can now join us as Biden’s private chew toy. Could be worse. A President Harris would have us paying $495K/a head for the inconvenience we caused. I’m not saying it won’t happen but you hope it won’t.
